In the Dorian gold glitch, do u have to make him angry with you in order for the glitch to work? Or can you just go in there and kill him right away?

i believe he has to tell you to leave. i would save before you go in.
i have tried it twice and once it didn't work.
i loaded the save and did it at night and he told me to leave and i killed him and got the money.
