Shortest time to complete KOTOR?
Shortest time to complete KOTOR?
I've decided on my latest challenge: I'm going to find out how fast (i.e. shortest possible game time) one can complete KOTOR. By complete I mean kill the final boss and get the end scene, not complete all the quests (I suspect about 22 hours is probably the quickest if you do everything)
What's the shortest time anyone here has ever reached the end of the game? And what tips do you have for me?

My quickest time is 15 hours and 34 min. Not very fast I suppose but meh. Anyways as for tips, I guess you should know the game very well so you know how to do certain things quick and know shortcuts (like get through daviks place quickly). Thats about all I can think of.

Well, this game took me 48 hours to complete and that to me, is three weeks.
Anyway, how is it possible to beat the game at a faster time when you have to deal with side-quests and such? Might be hard to pull off to me.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

It's the fastest time by not compleating all the quests, i.e the side quests.

My usual time for completing every single sidequest is about 25 hours.
I'm going to run through the game once more before I try for a short time; for a start I want to check whether the DS or LS quest resolutions are faster (I have forgotten most of the LS ones.)
I've been thinking about stats and skills. I reckon I'm not going to need a lot of skills; the ones that might help to do things fast are Security (quicker than hitting things), Persuade and Treat Injury (less time taking medpacs). I won't bother with demolitions; it's quicker to stand on mines than disable them
I'm thinking of keeping my INT low, therefore (maybe 10?), and my DEX low as well; a high defense doesn't make fights faster. I guess I want a lot of CON, STR (to do a lot of damage and increase my To Hit) and WIS (so I can heal more points and do more Force damage)?

I've never even tried to complete the game in a whole stinkin 10 hours before I could not do that even without doing the sidequests.

If I play the game normally it takes me 100 hr 20 min.
but If I play for speed, I can beat in about 9 hr 54 min.
but why would you want to complete the game so quickly?
I like to look at EVERY aspect of the game, every storyline, and I still haven`t completely repaired HK and I really want to.

Hi
Ahem I've played KotOR twice, each time completing the game in ONE YEAR (from Christmas to Christmas).
Let's say I spend four hours per week behind my tv (heh xbox version) then how long would I spend playing KotOR?

I still haven't completed playing the good side yet but I would fully repair HK because it is great.
The first time around it took 50 days with most of the quests done. I can't remember the fastest time but it was very fast.

Viewer Discretion is Advised
One thing to remember when talking about game lengths in KOTOR is that pausing the game doesn't stop the counter that tells you, on your saved games, how long you've been playing that game. If you always save and reload during, say, drink breaks, you'll find that a game with every quest completed takes about 25 hours.
and I still haven`t completely repaired HK and I really want to.
I've done it. Basically, you need to put every point for your main character into repair, and buy Calrissian's belt on Dantooine. Remember that you have to do it before you get your fourth star map out of five, as you can't do it once you've discovered your backstory.
I'm about to start my speed run later this afternoon, after a weeks spent trying to decide whther LS or DS options are quicker on the various planets...
[edit] I've just left Dantooine: 3h22m (my usual time for this when all quests are done is about 10 hours) I've decided to set myself a target of 9 hours...
(my time for the Spire was 19 mins, for Taris 2h 07m)
[edit] Further update 27/7: Kashyyyk completed 4h35m, Tatooine 5h21

Speed Demos Archive - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - This guy finishes KotOR in 3:14 (speed run obviously). Includes 950MB video if you want to watch. I seem to remember some Bioware QA tester claiming to have finished in about 4:30.
"Heya! Have you been to Baldur's Gate? I've been to Baldur's Gate... Oops, stepped into something. Have you stepped into something?"
Well, I've finished. Total time 9h12mins. Times to the end of the last few sections: Manaan 5h59m, Leviathon 6h44m, Korriban 7h23m, Unknown world 8h3m.
I think looking back going with a Guardian was a mistake; I was often limited by having to wait around to get enough FPs regrown to move on the next fight, particularly in linear and fight-heavy sections like the Leviathon and, especially, the Star Forge. In retrospect, Sentinel might be a better choice, and keeping my INT at 8 and to hell with the skills, so I have a higher WIS.

I'm not honestly sure I believe this. For one thing, I don't believe it's possible to walk around all the levels in this time, even with Speed (which I used at all times) and the shortest path. For another, the non-skippable movies together probably take up at least half an hour. (unfortunately if I downloaded a video that big my IPS would 'upgrade' my contract automatically to a higher bandwidth limit at double the cost, for a minimum period of 1 year ;( )

I downloaded the Taris part of the movie (and I can confirm it is legitimate) and it ran 52 mins, alot less then your claimed 2h (it would probably be even less when using the ingame timer, not the video timer).

Alcina didn't "claim" anything. She (or he) used the word "probably" at one point, and stated a position as a belief, or opinion. So watch how you read, and react.
