Thief

Who else misses the midnight steampunk adventures of Garrett, masterthief?

(Before editing it said "Garrett, Matter thief", still accurate but not quite as dignified)

I kind of miss Thief too, even though it was terrible, to me. I also miss Garrett too. Been a while since I've touched the game.

I'd be really interested to see who picks up the liscence next
i was surprised how well Ion Storm did with the game's sequal, particularly the storyline, though the graphics engine and consolization really hurt it in my opionion, personally i'd love to see someone like Irrational pick up the torch (or blackjack as it may be)

Yeah. Pity Ion Storm was forced to closed down. According to an article in Gamespot, Eidos was undergoing financial troubles and have to consolidate Ion Storm with another company in order to make two different studios into one. Hence, the closure of Ion Storm (Almost reminded me of what EA did to Westwood Studios in an article in PC Gamer).

As for who will develop the new Thief series, I was probably thinking of Ubisoft Montreal or some other developer but since the title rights belong to Eidos, I had to think of developers who usually use Eidos as their publisher for their games. That one will be Crystal Dynamics. Pretty good developer I might add. Made some great games like Project Snowblind and managed to revive the flagging Tomb Raider series with Tomb Raider: Legends.

EDIT: Have to do some corrections as I've posted some wrong information as to the reason behind Ion Storm's closure. :)

garrett?

i completely miss the game. ??????????
are we even sure that the next game will be about him? (if there is one)
the end of deadly shadows has him getting what i describe as an possible apprentice. as much as i love garrett, he has retired twice already. i really hope he comes back though.

I wouldnt call it retirement
though it would be interesting to see a thief game, with Garrett assissted by his new young apprentice
