Nerevar and the Antichrist

Fun Fact: After watching the History Channel bit on the "Antichrist" and further researching the matter, I realized that Morrowind's Nerevar figure might have been based off the Antichrist himself. Within several excerpts of the bible, it states that the Antichrist will seemingly stand for all that is good and will gain the knowledge of all languages, tribes and political parties (The "political parties" part was modernized. (The Horator for the Houses and the Nerevar for the tribes.) Also, one prime aspect of the Antichrist is his ability to speak. The bible states that this figure will have great charisma and an uncanny ability to sway large masses of people with his language. (Convincing the inhabitants of Morrowind.) However, there might be one difference between the legend and the game's history in that this figure was to rise during a chaotic period, which within the game *could* be the period of Dagoth Ur's ressurection.

For the record, I'm not religious.

Those similarities are scary. The only difference is that the Nerevar actually saved Morrowind whereas the Antichrist is supposed to bring about the end of the world.

Interesting idea... Are you suggesting then that the Neravar is actually an "evil" entity then?

I strongly doubt that Bethsoft would have based an heroic figure on some bizarre ultimate villain out of Orthodox Christian eschatology. The figure of the Nerevar rather confirms to the bland type of fantasy hero in many games, and those in turn go back to bad fantasy fiction put out by hack writers for AD&D and similar companies.
