Afraid of losing my stuff...

Post by Damn Snakes! »

I am about a third of the way through this game... and as a 'wandering adventurer' (I poke around in every cave and stray off of every road) I have accumulated a good number of quality items (daeric this, ebony that) that I am storing in the body of that dead guy in the hllaluu mansion in Balmora (can't remove the body so I am guessing he is a safe place to store stuff...) anyhoo - I am piling a lot of loot inside and on this dead guy... stuff I may need later in the game... Is this a safe place? Or should I find something/someplace better?

thanks, Mike

Any cave chest is safe, because the game doesn't respawn them. Never leave loot on a body, or in a container in a city. The bodies are removed, and the containers usualy recycle.

If you're playing on a PC, you can also load various house mods that let you keep items in many containers. Check the sticky threads at the top for some good suggestions on these.

The dead guy in the Hlaalo manor should be safe for storing your items. You can also just dump them on the ground, although too many items in one cell can slow down loading.

I too would recommend getting one of the excellent house mods available, if you're on pc.

If you dump too much in one place on the ground it can cause the game to crash too, at least on my pc - but i'm talking about a lot of stuff (so its piled higher than my character lol). The easiest way, if you just want to come back and get stuff to sell later, is to just place things on the ground close together, then place a mark spell next to a seller then travel back to the place, pick everything up and use recall.

For stuff you want to keep, just pick a house somewhere (in Balmora I usually just use the Camona Tong bar place and dump stuff in a corner there and go back for it when i need it. Once I you have a stronghold, you can place stuff in chests in that without them going missing (at least they have never vanished for me).
