In MW I know you could steal pretty much anything and sell it elsewhere. It appears, if I'm reading the Oblivion manual correctly, that merchants will not buy any stolen items.
Anyone have confirmation on that? Makes stealing kind of pointless as a way to make money unless you can use the item itself if that's true.
