Glarthil quest problem *No Spoilers*

Post by Masa »

I have tried the glarthil quest several times now and always when I follow the first "suspect" to the grapevine farm the game crashes. :(

The game supports my graphics card: ATI Radeon 9600
I have enough RAM: 1gb
My processor should be okay: amd athlon 2600+ 2ghz

Has this happened to anyone else?

Very odd, especially since my system is identical to yours (except that my CPU is a little better). Have you tried turning down the draw distance, or doing other things to limit graphics? What is your PC doing when it crashes? Are you just standing there? Is there a certain spot you move to each time, or does it differ?

I'm just in stealth mode standing there and it doesn't matter in which spot I am.
When the target starts digging then after 10-20 seconds the game jumps to windows informing a serious error which my system has recovered from.

Oh, no i haven't tried to limit the graphics and i don't think the stealth mode (or is it sneak) affects anything.

There has been also other crashes that seem worse because for example at the arena it had crashed to a blue screen can you imagine, I haven't had a blue screen effect on a computer in many years.

Or could the heat do something like that beacause my computer is quite hot usually something about 50-60C
Maybe I should try re-installing the game.

Like Korgan would say: "It's starting to wear on me nerves"

I wonder if you couldn't have something sapping your RAM? Do you have anything else running in the background, like an anti-virus program? Do you have the visual effects in WindowsXP turned down?

Well I've always turned off my internet connection, firewall, anti-virus programs
and some other processes for optimal performance but that doesn't seem to help in this case.
Memory usage is about 200mb when I start the game.

Perhaps I should try to watch my frame rates if they're unusually low at the crash time.

Good idea. Try turning off Distant Land, too.

Honestly I don't think it's the computer. This same thing happens to some people when you *spoiler* follow the third person. Winyard and crash. There is a way around this, but it requires spoiling the quest ...
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

Maybe i'll look into it more carefully. But I think i'm following the person, at least the green indicator points the lady which I followed.
