After your PC reaches level 15 talk to Kreia and she mentions something about you feeling Visas master and dependant on what side you are (LLS or DS) you can Either be:

Jedi:
Jedi Weapons Master
Jedi Master
Jedi Watchman

Sith:
Sith Marauder
Sith Lord
Sith Assassin

Each has its Pros/Cons but thats all explained in the booklet
Hmm. Much fear i sense in you. Be mindful of your feelings. Fear is a path to the Dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering ...

also, which force forms and lightsaber forms you will receive are determined by your prestige class just like they were by your normal jedi class. in general, the master and lord classes are more force power orientated, the weapons master and marauder classes are more melee orientated, and the other two are more rogue/stealth kind of classes

I have been informed (though never tried it myself) that you have not only (as described above to be L15 and then talk to Kreia, but also to have a fairly strong alignment one way or the other. I'm told grey Jedi don't get the option.

When you take your prestige class you get a 'free level up'. So it makes sense to do so when you have just taken a level and have next to no XP points towards the next. To illustrate, suppose you have just got the 120,000 XP needed to be level 15 and you take your prestige class. You immediately get, free, the 16,000XP needed to reach level 16, and end up with 136,000XP. On the other hand, if you wait till you have 135,999XP toke youe Prestige, you still only gain one level, ending up still with 136,000XP; in this case you've only got one free XP point.

I usually 'cross class' as it were with my prestige class. I find this particularly important if I'm planning on being a Sith Lord. If I go Consular/Lord I find I just don't have the hit points and can be killed by a single blow from certain enemies, even when full vitality. Similarly if I'm going to be a Maurauder, I'd want to try another class first, just to get a decent number of FPs. Less important for Lightsiders, who really have very little use for the Force IMHO, and thus might do better going for straight vitality.

You can still get your free level; in fact the higher you are when you go prestige the more valuable your free level is (I usually wait till level 18 for that reason)...
