How many times have you used the Slayer ability?
It seems to be one hell of an ability, I have used it 2 times, and I am in chapter 7...the first time was in the Underdark, against the Balor you have to kill to get the Light Gem...but at that time I didn´t saw that I got -2 reputation penalty, until much later.
The second time was against Kangaxx The Demi Lich. Both times I used it, it kicked butt :-)

I think that using the slayer is to give to the Evil side, so I never use(besides my Elf Figther/Mage is powerful on her one).besides the slayer is UGLY.

well, the Slayer is ugly, hehe...but I think it is a good ability and I have 20 in reputation, so Jaheira and Jan is unhappy, so it could be good to use the Slayer and get down to 18 in Reputation, and then they will be happy to Image

...actually never intentional...I know it's supposed to be part of the story as well as part of him (main char) but he never fell to the temptation of this very gift.
Sorry for being so unexperienced...

I used the slayer ability once. It wasn't for a battle though. I just wanted to drop my reputation down to 16 while in the Underdark.
Seems like a useless ability to me.

Well, I don´t think it is useless, the times I have used it, it was worth it...against the Balor, my weapons had no effect, and the Balor always casted stun and stuff...
And against Kangaxx, which used Entrapment (I think) on the me, but it didn´t worked on the Slayer, so it was rather easy.

Its not a usless if you are not a figther, the slayer is the avatar form of Bhall, he gives 25 to a lot of things, regeneration, hurts like a +3 weapon(the balor can only be hit by a +3 weapon) but that is nothing that a figther type class can not do.(at that time of the game)
I would give the slayer for my former powers because there are more useful for a figther type, mage type class will find the slayer very handy however.

When my pc was chaotic neutral i used it quite a bit. It gives a nice bonus to your saves, which came in handy when fighting mind flayers. however when i am a paladin i never use it.

On my first try, I used it to open the Elder Brain's door, but died suddenly some time into the battle...there are some other links about that here somewhere...
I ended up just going back and getting a Mind Flayer to do it...
So, officially, never...

Does using the slayer ability adversely affect your lovelife?

I used it once, earlier tonight, to lower my party's reputation by two. After the unfortunate permanent demise of Keldorn Firecam in deadly battle with the Twisted Rune people I decided not to reload and go through that again. Instead I reverently returned Keldorn's family armor and sword to the warden in the Radiant Heart, then went to the Copper Coronet and recruited Korgan. Since my part rep was 20 I thought I'd lower it to 18 so as to lessen his chance for leaving. (So far he has given us no lip, and he was instrumental in killing the Elemental Lich later that day.)

Never seemed to help my monk, but then, he's a monk, and was more powerful with his hand-2-hand attacks.

I agree he is far more useful to mage-types, but only as a last resort. When your magic fails, then use the slayer. It's like using tensers trans., strength, and regeneration, all in one ability.

I,since I play evil always, have used it often. Apart from being useful , it is just fun to be so powerful and mighty and invulnerable (well, nearly),slaughtering your enemies with one or two hits; hahaha, they don't stand a chance against me!!!!(no,I am not some kind of evil, demented freak; according to Planescape Torment my alignment is neutral good...)
OK, I shall be honest and tell you that my Slayer got himself slaughtered horribly when he faced: 2 Gauths,3 Beholders and 1 Elder Orb...

For me the balor wasen´t a wussy...probably because I got into the underdark pretty early...and I didn´t had any weapons, which could hurt the balor.

the same thing happened to me foss. I ended up finding this page because balor was giving me grief. The slayer minced his butt. I used it once to defeat balor and once to open the door to the elder brains room because for some reason the mindflayer wouldnt open it when i used that collar on it
