Poll: the best stronghold

Post by Yanlee »

What is everyone's opinion on which is the best (and worst) stronghold?

I favour the Talos priest stronghold. Dishing out that evil advice sure is fun!

The worst would have to be the fighter keep, with its high costs and boring interactions.
I don't need this, I've got a masters degree in folklore and mythology

Worst: Mage stronghold. I was given the keys, but no one has appeared, nothing has happened, an it has been a long time.....

Best: No opinion.

The mage stronghold is only bad if it doesn't go the way it should...as would any other stronghold if they didnt go as they should. When everything works the way its supposed to... the mage stronghold is definately the most creative...visually...and intellectually.

Assorted mild spoilers.

I really liked the ranger's cabin, and all the assorted quests that went with it. The inhabitants of the surrounding village aren't too terribly annoying (and in same cases, like Nellick and Madulf, are quite cool), the quest rewards were pretty good (Annoyingly, the moon dog figurine is MUCH better than the spirit lion figurine that druids get...why is it that rangers get a summoned creature with all sorts of [marginally] useful abilities, whereas the druids get cheap cannon fodder?), and the cabin itself is pretty nice...plenty of containers for equipment storage for packrats like myself that can never bring themselves to throw anything away. I also like that it's located in the outdoors but not in as terribly cramped an area as the druid grove. I HATE walking around the druid grove...you'd think "nature" would be less cramped and confined and filled with tiny, thin little winding paths.

The worst stronghold, IMO, is the bard one. But I'm terribly biased on the subject because I hate the idea of managing a theatre. I can't imagine anything less interesting, which is why I PROBABLY should've made a Swashbuckler thief instead of a Blade bard this time around. Heh.

I'd say the Paladin Stronghold is the worst:
u don't get income, the 'ur own room' thing is a ripoff(can't even rest in it) and the pride of the legion armor reward isn't that attractive once u get the red dragon armor

I'm not too terribly impressed with either the paladin stronghold or the cleric stronghold. Kind of a let down after doing the other ones.

I like the ranger cabin after doing all the quests. It seemed the most fitting of all the classes.

Thieves' Guild is nice, but I'm partial to thieves.

I thought perhaps the Barbarian should have received the ranger stronghold instead of the fighter one. Getting your own tribe would be better, but we won't go there. And I'm not even going to start with the monk!

i've only done the mage stronghold, which is nifty in theory (who wouldn't want a pet golem?) but i unfortunately managed to get all my apprenti killed, thus, it is now boring. i wish i had the thief stronghold. at least you have stuff to do in there.

The best stronghold is the Talos (cleric) stronghold. It's cool to wipe out all of the nice guys.
I'll kick ass in BG2.

The mage stronghold is great. It gives you some nice options of useful rewards. I usually go for the wand with random effects, then the scroll of Abi's and finally the ring of Wiz. I do loose some exp points but get some good items instead. Also, the surviving apprentice returns to produce potions for me.
