Basic help for a newbie

Post by sammy22 »

Just a couple of questions I hope someone can help me with.

First of all how do I identify items?

secondly is it possible influence in any way the skills and stats followers learn and develop when levelling up? Also can they become apprentices experts etc and can you choose this or is it automatic?

thanks for any help.

You can indentify items with the Wise woman. She should exist in any town that has any kind of shops.Simply click on the Indentify button you see on the left side of the trader's inventory(I think so atleast).

As far i as know, the only way to make your followers become more expert is to have the Educator background.

I havent played Arcanum for quite a long time so pardon if I have any errors in my ideas.

You're right about the wise woman knowing how to identify items, though I'm not sure she's at every city. In any case, wherever she does show up, she's always on the outskirts, and without a building: just standing there.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

There's three ways I know of...

1: Go find the Gypsy woman who hangs around the outskirts of town. She's usually near a trailer or caravan thing and off the top of my memory there's a woman in Ashbury, Tarant, Shrouded Hills not to mention almost every other place. When speaking to her the option of "Can you identify something for me" should appear and one just clicks on an item in their inventory. I think it costs about 100 - 200 gold to identify.

2: There's a skill in the "Divination(?)" magic tree it's at the very end and that lets one identify at the cost of Fatigue. Too ridiculous a level and require for this spell in my opinion.

3: Scrolls of identify can be brought at the right magic shops, drag it to the use icon in inventory then left click to use. Sometimes it won't work for the very technical minded individuals.
Warning: logic and sense is replaced by typos and errors after 11pm

, it has yet to return
