I just bought the Gold Edition....it included the original Gothic 2..and the expansion...I had already played the original G2....and i have to say, there is alot of different things, including a new land to go to, new spells etc. I only started this new game a couple of days ago, and have to say the purchase was well worth it!

Yes, there is about 30% more game to an already huge and very fun game, with this expansion the game very much harder now.
There is a difficulty changer available if anyone is intrested, I can post it.
What makes Gothic so special is the amazing terrian, very great almost realtime combat, ie seperate right swing , left swing and block keys to do differnet combs depending on your skill.
Thou it is highly recomended to start out by setting your controls to NOT Gothic 1 controls unless you are deternined to spend an hour or two learning the controls.
It is easier to to use non default to learn about the game andhow great is before taking on the full controls.
Many reviewers have this problem they didnt know about the NoN defualt more standard keys when trying to review this game and got al frustrated.
Gothic series has some of the best quest due to the fact that there is more realistic dialogue interaction/acting by the NPCs, thou since this is basicly a budget title there are only a couple of differnet voice actors taking the role of many NPCs.

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
Should I play it all together
I didn't want to start a new thread, and found this one for the most appropriate for my question.
Well, I have just bought Gothic II - Gold edition, since it was quite cheap etc., well, doesn't matter.
My question is, should I install and play only original, and only after finishing the original install the extension pack (and start all over again), or are the changes and add-ons in extension so good introduced that I should install and play both at once?
To define my question in more details: will the extansion pack change the storyline of the original so drastically, that it is worth to play it twice?
Thanks.

I don't own the expansion pack but I've been told that it makes it quite a bit harder earlier on so its probably worth palying through once without it so you can get used to the game. Also, unlike Gothic 1, the different guilds get a few different quests so its worth playing through a few times anyway. I've played it through as two of the guilds now and thoroughly enjoyed both games and soon I intend to play it as the third guild.
