Major computer problems

Post by Marine_Sniper »

Um hey guys I'm new here I thought you could help me out because I was reading around some other threads and it seemed you helped everybody else with your problem so here's a couple of mine:
Before I restored my computer I could play Bloodlines okay but I was having a few troubles so my friend told me to increase my virtual memory..that messed up my computer so I restored it..everything went okay during the restore up until it said please wait while windows starts up..it just stayed there so I started up in safe mode where it said the system is not fully installed and my computer restarted then I ran the setup again and everything worked fine..but no taskbar! I tryed everything but nothing would work so I installed my video card (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500) when I installed the driver my screen blinked black once and I dont know if thats normal or not so I thought i would throw that in..but I went to my device manager and it said it was configured properly but now when I try to run my game my screen goes black and I have a white blinking underscore every single time..so I have to reboot and when I do windows wont start so I have to go to last known good configuration setting and reinstall my driver and if I try to play again that happens...the blinking underscore that is..any ideas what to do? I just got this game for christmas and I want to play it..If you want to contact me my xfire is marinesniper54 aim is hfx marinesniper or you can post here..I'm sorry for my run on sentences and grammatical errors and the length of this but I REALLY NEED HELP!

For the taskbar thing, have you tried pressing the Start key on your keyboard (it's the little Microsoft logo) if you have one, that should then show at least some of the taskbar.
If not that it's possible that your monitor isn't correctly set up when you restore the system like that. Check to see all the display picture is on the screen. If you have buttons or dials on your monitor then you may be able to correct it so the bottom of the picture (with the taskbar is shown).

I haven't played Bloodlines, so I don't know what the normal behaviour for that game is. Maybe reinstalling it would help?

Do other things on your computer work fine once you've installed the video card drivers?

Yeah I've done that, tinkered with my monitor, even went to control panel and taskbar and start menu and clicked it and nothing happened. I don't know what to do. Yes, everything works fine except for my games

Closing this thread to avoid double thread discussion of the same problem.
