Graphics and the attached costs

Post by Rookierookie »

I do not intend to buy Oblivion as soon as it comes out.

Not because I can't afford to - if I really wanted to play it that much, I would steal one - but because I can't afford the accessories needed to play it.

I'm quite sure that a 9800SE would meet its minimum requirements. But I've been spoiled to turn graphics on max with every game I've come across - even with the old i810e graphics "card" - and I do not want to play Oblivion without enjoying its graphics to the full, and I certainly do not want to play Oblivion at 10fps.

For this reason, I won't buy Oblivion until I get a new graphics card or even a new computer. Call me spoiled if you will; but you can't deny the fact that the new gameplay elements in Oblivion are, at best, secondary; the primary improvement, as with all first person GAMES (not limited to shooters), would be in the graphics section. Graphics lend immersion; and in fact I consider Morrowind's great graphics to be it's greatest gameplay element, it is the graphics that make you feel as though you are actually on the island of Vvardenfell.

Therefore, if I had to play with less-than-maximum graphics in Oblivion, or be forced to live with lag, I get the feeling that I am not enjoying the game to the full.

What will you do?

Well I will buy it for sure. I have been over at the official site as soon as I got word about the possible req for the game and my card, Radeon 9800 pro is about in the high middle range when it comes to them. The rest seems to be all right as well together with that (an Athlon 64 3000+ and 1Gb of Ram) for a medium setting of the game and that is just fine for me. I do not play this kind of games for the graphics really, and while I would like to see it at it's max it is not neccessery for my own game. In fact graphics is not, and never was, so important to me (or important at all in some cases), especially if all the other aspects of the game have my attention. I don't pay them much notice really, but that is a personal preference I guess.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

I would suck it up and buy it... actually that is what I plan on doing. My computer isn't that great, but I can't wait until Oblivion comes out, much less wait to get a better computer or graphics card.

I am not just an Oblivion fan but more an Elder Scrolls fan, I would buy Oblivion even if the graphic and lag was bad on my cumputer becasue I have always been a great Elder Scrolls fan and I am more than willing to shell out a few grand for a new cumputer and the game because I love it that much. (even though I make like $6.50 an hour.)
