Game-Stopping Bug/Weird Occurance

Post by RaidenValu »

Ok, I'm not really sure where to start, but the begining seems like as good a place as any ;)

My PC is a level 10 Jedi Guardian, about 90% Light Side at the moment. Just got to the first encounter with Atris at the Polar Plateu. Walked into the building, everything was normal (that is to say, my transport just crashed and my companions have been arrested. Seems pretty damn normal to me :p ).

I speak to the lead Handmaiden and all is still well. Go to the Prison cells...and nobody is there, save for Bao-Dur who's KO'd and I can't interact with him in any way (this is probably normal, but the cells thing isn't, because...)

then I go to meet Atris, and there are my party members, in front of the Turbolift door. Kreia is meditating and Atton is knocked out. I assume that this is what each should be doing INSIDE their chambers?

Now for the REALLY weird part - when I speak to Kreia, she stops meditating, but does nothing else. Repeated clicks of the left mouse button make her turn towards me, but never talk to me, or go into the conversation screen (the one with the options and thick black margins top and bottom).

However, the REALLY REALLY weird part is when I talk to Atton. He stands up, and goes into the Conversation screen, giving me these two choices:

1. [Cheat Node] Skip to the PC conversation with Atris
2. [Cheat Node] Continue conversation with Kreia

I've never entered any cheats, or installed anything other than the update from the Updater built into the launch program...

2 does nothing (as if I'd just clicked to talk to her, she turns towards me and stands there motionless).

1, however, skips to what I assume is the cutscene you're supposed to see at the end of the level. Kreia says something about "something important is about to happen", then Atris comes out of her chamber (even that's bugged, because she's already on the ramp when the scene starts, then when the doors open she glitches her way back inside the room and walks back to where she started :p ).

At the end of this cutscene (the conversation is great. I really love this game so far, it puts the RP back in RPG, the likes of which haven't been seen since Deus Ex. Anyway...) I return to the normal view (without my lightsaber.. grrr. I wanted it back :( ) and return to the turbolift shaft. It's still locked, and my party are still in the "[Cheat Node]" - state. I can't rescue T3 either, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to yet so I'm not too bothered.

Then I go down the ramp to the Ebon Hawk, and I can't board it without my party, but I can't add anyone to my party yet (because the screen said so. Presumably because it thinks they're still locked up).

All very confusing.

So in short, I can't leave this zone without my party, and I can't regain my party because nobody other than the Handmaidens and Atris will talk to me...

The previous save is just before the (really difficult, for me anyway) fight with the three combat droids after your shuttle crashes into the snow. So I could try re-fighting that later (I tried half-heartedly after realising I couldn't get past this bit yet, but died. Quickly :p ), but I'd rather not, because that would mean re-doing the conversation with Atris (which while really awesome, was also really long), not to mention trying to beat the Droids again...

Well, from my knowledge, the only way to get around the common bug is to reload your previous save, and then next time save just after the fight. Remember to get the bodies loot before going inside.

You are supposed to be able to release T3 just by speaking to him, and you have to rebuild your lightsaber, for your information, in case you wondering. :)

Aha, thanks :)

It seems the bug occurs when you select the option to give up your weapons immediately (I chose the same option the second time through - same bug. But then next time I asked who she was first, THEN gave them up, and was taken to a cut-scene in the prison, worked fine from there).

The cutscene at the end made a lot more sense that time :p For one, she actually had a lightsaber when she said "I kept your lightsaber", and there was stuff happening during the scenes that were previously seemingly irrelevent shots of walkways ;)

So yeah, works now. Thanks :)

Another FYI: I have found that when in a hard fight, it works best to wack one guy, then pause the fight & save. Then get the next guy & repeat as necessary. Most folks forget this is possible. Don't know if you knew this, but info anyway.

A little bit of a short cut too. If you have a ranged character blasting away at them and your other two characters fall, go and select Bao-Dur's body.

It will raise the other two characters and they will fight until they are knocked unconcious, or one or both of your characters will usually try to use Heal. All of a sudden, you have a chance to win again. ;)
