prestige classes

Post by Nighthawk2dr »

I am playing as a jedi consular, and am now to the point where I can get a prestige class. I like being a consular and using force powers a lot, and was wonder how joining different classes would effect me at levelups. If I became a weapons master, would I still be able to get he consular force benefits, or would I just get the weapons master ones? thanks..

As regular class, this is your level up points

Guardian
Vitality 10, Force power 4, Skill slow, feat fast, force power average

Consular
Vitality 6, Force power 8, Skill average, feat slow, force power fast

Sentinel (personal pick)
Vitality 8, Force power 6, Skill fast, feat average, force power average

Switching to a prestige (which replaces your old level up bonuses), you get

Jedi Weapon Master / Sith Marauder
Vitality 10, Force power 6, Skill slow, feat fast, force power average

Jedi Master / Sith Lord
Vitality 6, Force power 10, Skill slow, feat slow, force power fast

Jedi Watchman (my personal pick) / Sith Assassin
Vitality 8, Force power 8, Skill average, feat average, force power fast

Each class also gets special abilities. I prefer the watchman because you get sneak attack (hit from behind bonus). Very helpfull seeing how I usually end up in the middle of a HUGE ENEMY GROUP.

Personally, I go Consular/Watchman - I usually have quite low skills and so i get more skill points and every skill but demolitions becomes a class-skill. Plus I get every force power I want minus a couple.

You keep your class skills and any feats you have gained... You do get Greater prestige sense as a Watchman/assassin or weaponmaster/marauder, which helps...

It is up to you, but it is probably better to change direction...

I agree with Greg...make a hybrid. My favorite combo is Consular/WeaponMaster (Marauder). You get the best of both worlds...strong, hard to resist force powers and amazing ability in melee.

IMO you don't need high skill levels, except in two or so areas as your main characters...anything else can be achieved by bao-dur or mira, or T3-M4. Or any other NPC that you've given 1 or 2 really high skills with.
Sometimes I do what I want, most of the time, I do what I have to.

I would definitely always switch, unless I was playing an out-and-out tank 'fighter' type who never casts any Force powers anyway. For me, one of the big bonuses of changing is that you get to keep the Class Skills from your original class and you get the class skills of your new one. Save up some points to bump up your new-found skills, and save yourself either Feats or Points...
