I was wondering if anyone else had noticed in this case late in the game that
when you are using magic heavily that all of a sudden their magic is firing
blanks. It just stops working and I have to exit the game and let it reset or
whatever it needs to do. I hope this is just a bug.
I am almost done with the 'End Sequence' and I am going to need my magic
working so I am going to uninstall and then reinstall the game to see if that
helps solve the problem.
The problem is that Archery and Melee are both useless in this game. I get
the feeling from checking with other gamers who have played it and noticed
the same thing and feel that is the way the developers intended.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this both negative and positive, just post
them. The developers had developed the newest and most innovative melee
combat control in a long time and I believe they neutered it.

ferncliff_if true it should
Hi ferncliff, thanks for the response.
If what you say is true why is it only happening now? I would think that it
would have showed up long ago like when I started using magic heavily before
I edited my character. I have checked with other players I know who did not
edit their characters and some had the same problem all of a sudden pop up.
I will probably uninstall and reinstall the game and see if the problem exists
after I pick up where I left off. Right now I am waiting for additional feedback
for a little while. I have DS II waiting and am looking forward to playing it.

Bow and Arrow not hit side of Barn from five feet!
Hi thoon, thanks for your response.
I tried that since the magic will start to work again after a period of melee
and Archery use. The other solution is to save and exit the game and then
restart where I left off.
Unfortunately, give me pebbles to throw in place of the bow as not only
can you not hit anything but the damage is lousy with the bow especially
when you are being attacked by monsters from all sides throwing magic
from quite a distance above you. I forgot I will also need a sling or I could
use sticks and stones.
I did an uninstall/reinstall and then replaced my save games and the
Roster.dat file with backups from before the uninstall. I am happily back
in business again and currently a level 92 with over 27,000 kills. I don't
know if there is a level cap so I will make a backup of my save game at
level 97 just in case. There is great experience in the 'Demon Realm' if
you work the whole area of the last gate before having tea with Shaduroth.
There is one area I can't access so I stand by the locked gate and wait
for the bad guys to show up one the other side and then hit them with
Fire and Ice Novas which can net over 100,000 exp points and you are
pretty safe from attack from above while waiting.
I prefer playing a well rounded main character who can fight using Melee,
Archery and the Magics and do it effectively. That is not possible in this
game no matter how high your skill levels. Magic is the only real way to
go in this game whether defensive (summoning) or offensive(attack, attack,
attack).
Good hunting my friend!

Kel: Of course you ought to play the game that suits you, but I finished around level 23, and killed most of the bosses with bow and arrow, including virtually everything in the final area. I did a good bit of melee for a while, but that requires too much rapid wrist movement, and you get the pee knocked out of you often.
I think you can kill anything in the game. almost, by running circles around them and turning in quickly for arrow shots, and you can get really good at it, a shot every two or three seconds.
I'm really surprised you have trouble hitting. I had my archery around 10 or so, and I got around 90 % hits. You do have to aim some.
btw, your tip on kataals -- sell one and buy as many as you want -- is a major help. I never thought of that.

Dual Wield
Melee is definitely viable, especially with dual-wield. You can rack out a string of damage. Best way I've found is to jump and attack. You can attack as quickly as you can tap the mouse for as long as you're in the air. Same thing with backing up. just keep clicking and you'll keep swinging.
Hi Mordekai83, thanks for your response.
I wish my character could dual wield which was my mistake because I thought
that taking a Level One class of Fighter would allow it. I went instead with
the Adept, Mage, Palladin, Battlemage and Warlock path. My character is fun
to play but can't hit with his "Katana of the Sun" and this has been a problem
since the beginning which is why I took Mage over Fighter. I must admit that
the choice was helped along when I discovered back at the shacks before I
entered Fargrove that using a bow was a fast way to die. It took forever to
kill a wolf with a bow much less something like a chunneler or troll. I would
think that a troll at 30 feet would be easy to hit with a bow but unfortunately
that was not the case.
I am just about finished with the game and will then move on to Dungeon
Siege II as that will be fun since I played the demo and they made some nice
improvements over the original.
Keep on clicking!
