Two Weapon Fighting and fighting styles
I dont see how they can pass up something as cool as two weapon fighting
I have not read very many interviews about the combat system but have they mentioned anything about using two weapons or choosing diferent fighting styles
from what i have read so far it seems like it will be like in morrow wind where everyone has the same style and can only use one weapon at a time
(but they had TWF in daggerfall so i know there is a small chance they might put it Oblivion)
has anyone read about what they are going to do?

I shudder to think how many white-haired dark elves wielding two scimitars TWF in Oblivion would create, but I do agree that they should include it. No fantasy game is complete with-out TWF.
However allow me to quote to GB review of Oblivion...
This is much the same thing that the developers are implementing in Oblivion: press a button which causes you to start blocking with either a shield or a handy weapon and said shield or handy weapon will absorb some of the damage that you would otherwise have received
perhaps a hint... I guess we will have to wait untill it is released for it to be revealed....

hmm? you may have something there.
all i want is more choice in how my character fights
for example kotor had TWF and dualing, throw those in with two handed weapons and shields and you have wide selection to choose from
though they did say something about different stances or fighting styles i think
In morrowwind my style was pretty much a drunken swordsmen with how much Sujamja i was always drinking.
i think it would be cool to have a fighting style system so people could mod in new style like drunken sword

I would like to point out that in a recent article Todd (or Pete, I can't remember which) stated that there WILL be Dual Wielding in The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.
Wait a minute while I dig up a link.
EDIT, Whoops, it wasnt pete OR todd. Its in a review.
Its in about the middle of the first page of the article.

.You'll be able to use both hands in Oblivion, whether you decide to wield a sword and a shield, dual weapons, or a double-handed axe

The information in that preview has been confirmed false
A minor slip up by the previewer. Along with levitation and mounted combat I think dual wielding is pretty much guaranteed to be a no-no.
Did Morrowind have dual wielding? I can't remember
. I don't think did, and therfore I don't understand why dual wielding has kicked up suchs a fuss in the community. Similarly with mounted combat.

"I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!"
No levitation?! 'tis wrong!
The reason mounted combat kicked up such a storm was because of the introduction of horses, obviously people wanted to know if theyt could do anything but ride, certain people liked the idea, it was like fanning a flame.
Dual wielding wouldnt be that great IMO, unless of course you were dualing crossbows wich unfortunatley were scrapped as well. All one needs to do is crouch, draw, aim, release.
Just a thought, I wonder if the TES series goes far enough to see some more modern items, such as horse drawn buggies, maybe even some sort of projector like a gun, or if they will bring in domestication, that would make me happy, having a few deer to ride around, a few hunting hawks, maybe the larger avian creatures could be my horse.
Just a thought, ill start a thread later maybe...

If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

Isn't it possible to Mod TW fighting in Oblivion, since you can hold 2 weapons, if I understand the previews correctly.
In Morrowind, don't think you could hold a second weapon, which I am guessing prevented a Mod.
Seems Levitate, TW fighting and Telekenisis (strong enough to pick up Humans/Monsters is very possible, thou I don't see much hope for Horse Combat at this point.
Edit my bad, either I misunderstood about holding two weapons or one of the reviewers was confused.
I have not seen a confirmation of being able to hold two weapons, bummer.
Sure hope they can remove the limitations of only a shield being in second hand.

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
