Warlock and Drain Life Ability

I chose Warlock as my 3rd Tier and worked up the drain life ability to about 10th level. At this level, I would rarely need healing potions. I was in candyland near the end of the Witch's maze dungeon before you get to the witch when the minos chain spawn on top of you. I don't think my health ever dropped below 75%. I haven't seen many (any?) posts about folks choosing warlock / drain life, am the only one? (my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier classes were: mage-battlemage-warrior-knight-warlock seemed to give me a well rounded choice of skills)
