Need to reformat - How do I save my game & characters?

Post by callianis »

Hi there,

I need to reformat my computer. How do I 1) export my game saves & then 2) import them back into the game?

Simply saving the folders & putting them back doesnt work as it does with Baldurs Gate.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Try opening the folders, saving each savegame and character as individual files to wherever you're going to put them (I use CD backups) and put them back into the folders when you're done.
When your back is against the wall... the other guy is in a whole lotta trouble.

Hi there,

Previously I tried saving the save folders themselves, eg 000000000-Auto-Save & tried putting it back in after I reformatted my computer & reinstalled IceWind. This has worked no worries with BG 1 & 2 in the past.

If I were to save the individual files within these folders (4 game related, up to 6 portrait files) as you suggest, I would still need to create a game save folder upon reinstalling IceWind.

Think I will experiment on another computer before I reformat ;)

Thanks for your suggestion.

Callianis.

baffoon

Well dont I feel like a tool - I tried installing IceWind on another computer, threw in my game save folder into the appropriate location (the mpsave folder), & it worked perfect ;)

Thanks for your time.
