Fun with action figures (Not too destructive, please. Spam on subject.)

Post by Galuf the Dwarf »

I can't help but think back to some fun times with my action figures as a kid.

Of all things, my favorite has to be when I decided to use some 'Transformers: Beast Wars' figures and those plastic wire things that hold some of the larger figures in their cases. So I thread those through the holes in their fists and tie them to shopping bags. Next, I point the pivotal fan up towards the ceiling. Finally, I place the figure atop the fan and VOILA! Para-dropping robots! :D

Any other tales of good clean fun with toys?

To be honest, I used to make my playmobyl characters use armor by applying to the external plastic layer a chocolate metal paper wrapper armor. And swords. And communicators. (yeah, retrieve the hair, shape the chocolate wrapper into a mike, attach it). Now you have... Medieval warriors using radio comm :D

Also, my sister would steal my GI joe characters to use them as thieves... she said they were the laziest thieves she had ever seen. So I had the only GI Joe thieves on the world... :p

I'll remember more, I'm sure... we had pretty few of those action figures (me and the neighbor on the green house) so we needed to be pretty imaginative. Till the day the video game came to the neighborhood.

Beast wars was the best ever. I still remember playing with that Raptor one, I can't remember his name, but he Sacrificed himself for the others. I think he was on the newer ones that aired on Fox... But still awesome show. I still play with my warcraft 3 action Figures, I want a Dread Lord.

Dinobot! Thats it, I couldn't remember his name for my life! I'll need to look for it on Ebay, I loved that one. Lets see, I remember playing "Romance" a few years ago, with my Warcraft action figures. It turned out horible though. Salvanis could never love Thrall enough. Nor could Tichondrious love a priestess of the moon. *sighs* Oh well. :o  :( :p

Hmph...kids these days.

Now, back in the day when I had a GI Joe with a kung-fu grip, there was Ken to beat up. Nowdays, GI Joe doesn't even come up to Ken's knee. Bah. :(

Amen, Chanak! Down with the pretty boys!

I know! Maybe we can pretend one of those older Kens is Gulliver landing on the G.I. Joe territory of Lillyput (sp?)? ;)

Oh, and I grew up with the tiny G.I. Joes. Yes, it's like Transformers Micromasters compared to regular Matchbox cars (which I had both to a small degree). :o

Hehehe, I had (Still have) like all the transformers from the original series. It's always fun to watch someone try and transform the toy into something else, but can't figure it out, but I do it in like 30 seconds.

Favorite has to be a Grimlock transformer. Actually, come to think, all the Dinobots are pretty sweet.

Syberus: I've got a number of the originals too; mostly of the later years (ie: Pretenders, Head/Target/Powermasters, etc.). Too bad many of them are missing parts *wimpers at the condition of his favorite Powermaster Optimus Prime*. :(

Another favorite thing: Mixing up detachable parts & limbs on Beast Wars figures. Introducing, Transformers Frankenmasters! :D

I remember blowing up my X-Wing fighter with firecrackers a few times. I also kidnapped my sister's teddy bear, fashioned a noose, and repeatedly hung the thing. Eventually though, that passed, as apparetnty too many instances of dropping a teddy bear a few feet to be stopped forcibly by a rope around his neck results in the head popping off. My sister is still in therapy.

Hehe, I had Action Man, and I used to play with them in my summer house, using them as bodyguards (which meant climbind way up on a cliff and toss them into the water untill their limbs fell off :D

we also used to tie ropes to them, and tie the other end around our own wrists and toss them as far as we could into the water.. Once, I tossed to hard, and got pulled with him into the water :p :o

Once we cut the scalp off the poor fellow and put some "slime" into his empty skull, and taped the top back on, after all, he needed a brain! :D

That reminds me of the kid that would have most of his X-mas loot destroyed by mid-January. :D

@Galuf: I have a better idea. When I was a kid in Okinawa back in the old days, I saved up some allowance and bought "Micronauts" at a Japanese store a few miles down the road from where we lived. Now, the Micronauts ruled. If any 3" tall action figure can take out an oversized sissy Ken doll, it's the Micronauts.

I got these robots toys for christmas once. I forget their name, they were tiny, about 1/2 inch tall, but you could interchange torsos and arms on most. Anway, the robots were fun, but what I loved, was the ships. They all came with springloaded missiles, which could easily fly across a room, and still have sufficient force to annoy whatver they hit :D
Mag: Don't remember much at all of last night do you?
Me: put simply.... No :D
Mag: From what I put together of your late night drunken ramblings? Vodka, 3 girls, and then we played tic-tac-toe and slapped each other around.
