Got 2 ToEE save files corrupted.

Post by Galuf the Dwarf »

2 of my ToEE save files got corrupted.

This time, it's the moderator of the game himself that needs help. :o

It's funny. I was doing so great in 'The Temple of Elemental Evil,' and all of the sudden, 2 of my most recent save files became corrupted and won't load. The latest file that will load is from before I entered the later part of the game, so it's not too far away.

However, the progress I made is astounding, so I'd hate to just have to start all over again. Also, there's the possibility that future files may end in a similar manner, so I'm growing concerned. If anyone knows how to possibly fix my game (by safe/legal means, especially) I'd be estatic.

Have your game crashedlately? I mean after the latest save but before you noticed that those two won't load? I have had several times similiar problem with IWD2 saves, the reason always has been game crashing and because of that the computer has booted itself (bad thing about WinXP, mostly when program crashes WinXP boots itself  )

Problems

Verify you have video drivers that meet the game requirements. Your directx needs to match your video card drivers. If you update one you must update the other.

If you have Win SP2 installed then ask Microsoft how to make it more compatible. I wont install SP2 because I play Arcanum every week and it has save problems with SP2.

Some games have the ability to set game priority for game processes. See if your game has a similar capability. This will prevent some other applications from stopping the save; like antivirus software.
