Couple of Questions

Post by Solahma »

I am fairly new to Kotor ....2 weeks to be exact, thought I'd pick the game up with all the Star Wars hype going around.I have played both dark and light and was wondering about this....

Lightside and Darkside Mastery: What They Do
Lightside Mastery
Guardian: +3 Strength
Sentinel: +3 Constitution
Consular: +3 Charisma

Darkside Mastery
Guardian: +1d8 damage
Sentinel: Poison immunity
Consular: +50 to force points

Now does one have to be fully dark or light to get these? my dark character is completly dark, there is noway I can tell if I do a extra +1 d8 damage...and on my light character I strip him down without equipment and his str is not +3.So that being said...I probably answered my own question....or do these mastery skill things remain passive and not visible?

Also does anyone have any good recommendations for starting stats for a consular?

Thx

Yes, fully light/dark. At least, in so far as the game measures these things.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

You can tell if you are indeed fully light or dark when the background of your portrait in the character screen changes to lightning/rays of white light. You should be able to see the bonus if it is active.

The rays of white light appear in your portrait a little bit before you are fully light. When you become fully light/dark, a small icon will appear in the strip on the right side of your portrait, where other enhancement icons, such as speed, force immunity, etc. appear when active. If the icon isn't there, you're not fully light/dark. At least in the case of your light side guardian, the enhancement should be visible in your character sheet; your strength should be three higher than usual and appear in green as if you were wearing something that gave the enhancement.

Oh, and as for starting stats for a future consular, I guess it sort of depends on what class you're starting off with (most people would probably pick scout, though going by the book and doing scoundrel works well too)
Personally, I'd say something like str12, dex14, con10, int10, wis16, cha14, although the early game might be a little rough that way.

Ah thanks for the info, as mentioned about the portrait thing I always wondered what that red symbol was on my dark, as for light I didnt reach the mastery skill, must be because I am naturally dark :P and took a few to many easy routes in doing some quests for light. That clears that up, thanks again.
