Should i?

ok. I got this game, and fallout 2 today. i've heard that fallout 2 is better, and was thinkiing about starting with that game, and jump over this one.. now is that ok, or do i miss the storyline? is this game like BG,where BG2 continues from BG? just wondering.

FO2 is longer and more involved, but the original FO is fun, too, so it's worthwhile to play. But if you really want to skip it, the storylines of the games are unrelated. FO2 just has some references to the first game.

Fallout 2 and Fallout don't share main characters. Still, the games are related in terms of story. To optimize your appreciation of the second game, its probably a good idea to play the first game. I didn't play them in order and really wish I had. It's not that you won't enjoy the second game independently from teh first one, you will. But it will enhance your understanding and appreciation for the post-apocalyptic world.

The interface and how the games work is a lot easier to learn in the first game. Try that first. It really doesn't take that long and it's a great start for the second one.

I started with FO2 then when back about half way through and played through FO1. The only thing that FO1 adds to FO2 is that you will recall a few thing (places, items, names, monsters) that have changed for both good and bad. FO1 can be beaten in twenty minutes if you know what to do, so it's not too harsh or long of a play first time through.

The only thing is referances such as "Vault-Dweller" wont be as interesting/funny

I would suggest that you first play FO1, then FO2. Playing the first makes the second more fun, because there is actually quite much references to FO1.

SPOILER!! HIGHLIGHT!

Ie. there is one special random encounter where you can step in portal which takes you to Vault 13 and the time is just before the water chip broke. Your mission there is to destroy the water chip so that the first game could happen =D

Also, as mentioned earlier, FO1 doesn't take much time to play, it teaches the interface better and is actually quite fun game.

whoa! hold one here! sorry for bumping this thread, but can you complete the game in 20 min.???

i never really started any of the games, 'couse i dont like them

Fallout 1 is good despite the bugs, so if one has it - I would strongly recommend playing it. Before or after Fallout 2 doesn't matter that much, but personally - I'd do them in order.

The original review in Computer Games Magazine said it should take about 20-35 hours depending on the side-quests you do. I'm about to start it to.

This is true. It all depends on how much of the unnecessary stuff you do. If you do all of the side quests and shoot for your highest level it will take at least that long, but it can be completed in a very short time with a little knowledge and a little luck. Have fun playing the game!
