THAC0 is short for "To Hit Armor Class 0 (Zero)." It's from Pen-and-Paper RPGs and the older rules. The more proficient you are with weapons and the stronger your character is, the better chance you have of hitting a character with an armor class of 0 and hurting/killing it. It resembles the dice roll you'd have to make on a twenty sided die. If you have a THAC0 of 15 and you roll a 14, then you miss, but if you roll a 15 or above, you hit. A roll of 1 is always a critical miss and a roll of 20 is always a hit. You want your THAC0 to be as low as possible, so use weapons you're proficient in and magical rings, bracers, weapons as much as you can if you want to hit tougher enemies. Armor and dexterity affect this on the receiving end of the blade and change the rolls up a little bit. If you want to see exactly what I'm talking about, then turn on the dice rolls in your game options menu. It will show you what you roll.

Wow! I didn't screw something detailed up for once! Thanks, Brynn.

(That was nice enough. :p Thanks!)

Yeah, it took me a long while to figure that out too. I went from the PC games to the Pen-and-Paper world, so I had to read a bit from the manuals to get that stuff. I actually got bored one day and was bothered that I didn't know what THAC0 was, so I looked it up. You learn something new every day!
