spell focus: Evocation or Necromancy?

Post by mbz »

I know this question has appeared in many threads, but I am still caught in the delima of choosing Spell Focus or Necromany.

I'm a 17 elven Sorceroress(planing to remain pure all thro), finished the normal campaign and doing SOU on D&D difficulty(so easy). My starting stats are :
Str: 8
Dex: 16
Con: 12
Int: 14
Wis: 10
Cha: 16

My AC and saves suck. I don't care.

I've been learning a batch of Evocation spells. The only Necromancy spell that I use right now is finger of death, which is pretty useful in killing enemy mages.

I don't understand why people post threads and make a big deal out of spell focus: Necromancy, since the only useful necromancy spells are: Horrid Wiliting and Wail of Banshee. Plus, 8th level spell often get substituted by empower: IGMS. In the game many enemies are immune to death magic, and in PVP, all you need is a belt that gives you death magic immunity. Why not go for Bigby's crushing hand(which essentially kills the opponent if he fails the save), instead of Wailing death?

In the new patch, Fire Brand has a new reflex save. So improved DC checks will benefit the spell.

I wonder how long epic: mage armour lasts? Do I still need armour and epic still spells if I have this mage amour?

Also, I wonder what initiative rolls do.

Pumping Charisma using epic feats is very costy. I wonder if I have made a mistake for not giving my sor 18 charisma, which I could deduct from my dex.

btw, is there any chance that I can recover my lost equipment in HOU?
