was searching for topic about this but didnt find anything but i`m sure i`m not the only one with this, i have ati radeon 9600xt and on dantooine i have fps reduced to 1-2fps when i look in the distance, but when i go to graphics->advanced settings and change something so the settings take effect the lag is gone, but when i do this process and enter some area the game freezes, so its either play on 1 fps or restart the game everytime i leave area/savegame. This is very frustrating and now this 'thing' is happening to me at the sith academy at korriban, have the latest graphic card drivers from ati.com and the patch (althrough i am unable to install it at all because i get error there, but looks like it is installed)
this is one of the games that i put on my 'bugged like beetle farm' list althrough kotor1 was absolutely bugless
so if anyone know how to resolve i`d appreciate it and if it has been discussed just please give me the link to the topic

Two solutions:
1. In game, whenever the lag starts, go to options > graphics > advanced and just change something. That should hold over for awhile. When it starts to lag again, go back into the settings and change it back.
2. Edit your swkotor2.ini file and add the following line under [Graphic Options]
Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1
I'm not exactly sure what option 2 does as I don't see any graphical difference but it did the trick for me.
