Not me. I played BG1 when it first came out, but not since BG2. If Tutu adds labels to buildings in BG1, I'll play the first title again; if it doesn't, I won't. It was having to label all those buildings in the big city that broke my attempt to return to BG1.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I played all the way through the series once with a Cleric/Ranger. Imoen was in my party the whole time except when she was incarcerated. She was a 9th Level Thief dualled to a Conjurer. (I used Shadowkeeper to preserve continuity in BG2.)
I recruited other NPCs temporarily in BG1 and Shadows of Amn. When Imoen dual-classed and temporarily lost her thieving abilities, I let Coran help me with the locks and traps in Durlag's Tower. (I was playing Tales of the Sword Coast.) In BG2, when Imoen was taken by the Cowled Wizards, I did Nalia's quest first, and I let her accompany my character. I changed some variables so I could get the Fighter stronghold and do the rest of the De'Arnise/Roenall quests. When I did the Unseeing Eye quest, I let Keldorn join my party. Since the game never identifies the party responsible for the assault on the De'Arnise Keep, I pretended that it was Firkraag, which gave Nalia a personal interest in the Windspear Hills quest. I also pretended that Garren had appealed to the Order of the Radiant Heart for help, so Keldorn came with me at their request. When we got back to Athkatla, I let Keldorn return to his family, and I sent Nalia back to her keep. I soloed Chapter Three (I sided with Bodhi), and then I rescued Imoen.
I let Sarevok join me in Throne of Bhaal. I needed another melee warrior in my party to beat Ascension, and I enjoyed the idea of pitting my Three Bhaalspawn against The Five. I can't remember using any other mods besides Ascension and Ease-of-use; there weren't many mods available back then (a couple of months after Throne of Bhaal was released). With BG1 fresh in mind, Sarevok was still a potent figure, and it was interesting to see his story come full circle. I had never really paid much attention to Tamoko before (I always thought she was a fool for loving a "monster"), but I learned to sympathize with her. It was a great roleplaying experience.

Did it once with a party
Protagonist: Paladin (premo choice for 1st play through; strict roleplaying)
At some point I sold BG1 (stupid me).
.
.
.
(time goes by)
.
.
.
seeing IceWindGate; installed it but it IS beta (sad it isn't a project of Wes Weimer any longer; hope it comes out of beta eventually)
.
.
gotten by BGtutu, installed it (after buying BG-Saga), I can't put my finger on it, but it felt not right for me
.
mere weeks in the past: installed BP-BGT-NEJ (man this was pain, but I had success on 2nd attempt)
Now playing as an Elf F/M/T (NG) solo (BG1 part done, NEJ done, BG2 chapter 2 nearly all sidequests done, almost ready to do Aran Linvail and depart. This character is ridiculous powerful (9 million XP), so maybe I drop him.
Plan to go for 2 more times:
1 Party (3-4 near permanent and 1-3 changeable Companions to fulfil a LOT of quests)
1 Solo (EVIL->true successor to the god of murder, either as druidic/sorcerer (interesting ancestry -> part divine(godly) part dragonic (hence the sorcerer))
or human multiclass (through SK) Fighter/Mage/Warlock (created as Berserker)
...back to the drawing board

I did it with Edar Macilrille the fighter. I also started with Adanedhel the fighter. With Tutu installed (I hope it will work this time) I will try one with Edar Macilrille reborn as Kensai/Mage or SK-ed to reflect the abilities of the Rolemaster character he is actually based on.

Hmmm... I think my first was a blade... Not sure now, though.
The first time I really remember was a party of made up PC's... one a 4th level cleric dualled to mage, one a fighter (I made him a berserker), one a multi thief/mage, and the other a cleric. As I recall, I went half way through the intro dungeon and thought that a blade would suit me better.

Cool thread by the way.
I did once with a fighter/mage/thief elf named, Lucifer. I named him then found the game expanding and was supprised to find I really did have a diabolic side of sorts, to his nature. It worked a little to well. I changed out NPC's alot. Mostly kept to the fairy folk.
I am on my second run through and have another fighter/Mage. Sort of sorceror model. He be named Sauron. About the same as the first. Few good mods this time. Greatly improved. Still a challange and still fun.

Screamming!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am currently on such a quest. Call me old fashioned but I"m playing just a simple Human Mage with a Nuetral Evil alignment. I'm trying to acquire the big metal unit and rod. I've gone and placed the gold and silver pantaloons in my Planar Sphere. I'm only on chapter two trying to get all the NPCs played and maximum experience before I sail off to chapter 3 with Korgan, Viconia, Edwin, Haer'dallis and Jan.

It adds labels to important buildings (places such as Sorcerous Sundries, Temples, Inns and the ilk).

I did it four times. My first runthrough was with a Paladin, the next with a Cleric/Mage, the third a solo Blade and the last (until now) was with an Assassin/Mage. And I had lots of fun every time

I've only finished all three once, and that was with my Dwarven Fighter/Cleric Ghulzhar Ogresmasher. And that was before I knew about mods, too. Long time ago now... My current run-through is Ellysia the Bard, and she's just about to complete SoA. I've started several new PCs in BG 1, which I intend to take through BG 2 as well. We'll see how the time goes... Morrowind is my main addiction at the moment!

I happen to be on the quest of trying to go through all games. I have chosen an elven fighter/mage this time. (I've gone through the entire series a few times before) BGI I went with Imoen (no dual), Minsc and Dynaheir.
In BGII, where I've just finished Windspear Hills and about to set out after Imoen, I sadly lost Minsc in the fight against a certain red one. So I picked up Hear'Dalis and Keldorn as compensation.
To me, it's more fullfilling to go through BGI as well, as it really makes you remember from what and where you started.
Besides, I've always liked BGI atmosphere better.
There are only 2 drawbacks in doing BGI also:
1: It takes a long while, if you really go in depth with BGI
2: It takes quite a bit of adaptness from you to go from BGI to BGII.
But if you're okay with this, I strongly suggest that you make a character you like and go through them all. Even if it takes a few tries to get the character right or even cheating (whatever suits your style). When you've found a character you really like, then it won't be a problem to actually finish the saga
@fable: I agree with you that BGI is alot more "messy" than BGII. You litterally have to stumble over most things not directly related to the mainplot, but with my old game of BGI a map was given as well, which had the city of Baldurs Gate drawn on one side. Along with flags of many buildings.

I don't recall such a map with flagged buildings, though it's been quite some time since I played the game. Does anyone know of a site that has maps of each quarter, with buildings appropriately labeled? Might almost be worth playing again if that was available.

The map I mentioned before however, was an actual physical map that came with the game. ^^
@Author of the thread: please excuse the off-topic talk.
PS: The french guy that made this map really tried, although looking at how he translated some of the names really put a smile on my face

I played through all the way from BG1 once. I had BG1, TotSC, BG2, and ToB. Played through as a Fighter, Sword and Shield style. I don't think I played through BG1 and TotSC with the party you can get from the BG2 series. It took a LONG time to finish. lol I am thinking somewhere around a month. I completed as many quests as possible. I remember that I completed Watcher's Keep before finishing BG2, so I was pretty powerful by ToB. Plus getting all the tomes in BG1-2 raised my skills alot.
I played through at that time with no mods at all. (Not even Balderdash, which I didn't know about at the time. Over a year ago.)
