Dark age of camelot - Lag
I got dark age of camelot (mmorpg) and my computer lags on it terribly...i have 512 ram, a ati rage 128 video card, running windows XP. I have updated my video card drivers, scanned for viruses/adware/trojans/ect. did a disk clean up and defrag, uninstalled any progs that i never use. i also turned off unnesisary effects in the game. what might be causing this? im at a loss

Well - first of all - servers.
After the introduction of Trials of Atlantis and then New Frontiers, servers have a problem copeing with DAoC especially in thoese areas. Nothing much to do here - and it is mostly visible if you see "ghosts" from other people running around, "mobs" dissapering while hitting you or you them etc. This is especially a huge problem on the european servers where I used to play, so I would guess it could be a factor for US servers as well (which I guess is where you play). You will also notice others complaing about lag if it is server-lag that is the cause.
Secondly - connection.
It could be your connection that is causing the problem, which can cause packet loss and latency, which can be experienced by the player as lagging. Using a tool to track the connection and seeing if the ping increases a lot at some "connection junctions" which you can't do much about, but complain to the ISP (I think Ping-plotter is a tool that can be used to map your route).
Connectionspeed also seems to have a large infulence on DAoC, so possible your connection has problems keeping up when there is a lot of action on the screen. I'd really hate playing DAoC on for instance a dial-up modem, the game is simply to demanding which is quite visible when a lot of action happens on screen.
Hardware.
DAoC is not really computer friendly with ToA and NF. Try seeing if you also have lag in the "old classic zones" as well. Turning most everything down to minimum (water-reflection, spell-effects, names, and all that) is a place to start, and then turning on details as you go along to find out how much you can run.
I personally run a 2.4 gHz with 1 GB RAM and back then a Geforce 4 128MB and I also experienced lag while running with few details. (I never had reflective water for instance)

I am low on space on my hard drive (my old one died) i have like 2g out of 20left. im getting a new one soon...

I don't think the ATI Rage 128 is a very good card...
The evil nature of GameBanshee revealed below!
GameBanshee sells Xandax to make ends meet
Then, as if that was not enough, they decide to get rid of me via sweepstakes as well

I would think 2 GB free space should be plenty.
If I remember right - each instance of DAOC takes about 500-600 MB of memory (visible in my task-manager when I ran one or two instances of daoc), so I doubt that it is with free space the problem lies.
Do you have pre-chace settings (Don't know your version) in the options menu (at character selection). Try fiddeling around with it if you do - turning it off yielded the best results for me IIRC.
