I've found your web site to be invaluable so deceided to join finely. DD was my very first RPG game and became HOOKED! BD is my second try, but am having problems with basic "how do's".
1. How do you create/mix potions after gaining the skill? I'm carrying around all these plants and don't know how to use them or what they are in the first place. Do you need bottles like in DD? If so, which ones and what do they look like? The color coding of the plants isn't much help when there are so many different ones. I have Alchemy-Extract-Combine, 1 each.
2. What is the skill name for charming of weapons/equipment? The closest thing I could find was "Embellish equipment" and that didn't work. I have charms I'm carrying but can't find the right skill to use them. What am I doing wrong?
I've just started Act 2 and finished with the first battle ground. I'm in the Imp Village. This has been a tough one and I choose the easy level of play. Thank God!! DD was so much better and easier to understand. BD has TO many choices and variables for my liking and no guide to explanations of just the basics. Yes I'm a novice, but there has to be others with the same problem. Please HEEEELP!!!!!!!
1. There aren't any bottles. I think you just need to right-click on the plants to bring up a menu of what you can create. And to combine potions, just drag one potion onto another. Since you only have one point in the skill, I think you can only combine the smallest potions.
2. There isn't a charm skill in BD. You can add charms any time you want, using the same procedure as in DD.
SWC
Sir Edmund:"Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?" Me:"It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."
I did catch the link after the fact, at the Larian web site. It does explaine about the potions, but I still can't get the charm slots to open up for me. I have to be doing something wrong.
Left click once on an item that has charm slots, and its "charm window" should appear. Just click to drag and drop a charm into an open slot, and the charm will be permanently applied.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I don't have any trouble bringing up the charm window. It's the charm slots that won't open. That's why I wanted to know what the name of the skill is (if there is one). In DD it was "Enchant Weapon". I don't have a problem with the crystals--- just the charms.
Is the item that you're opening one that's enchantable? If it isn't, you won't get the option to add charms.

Yes, the item is charmable. I played Divine Divinity twice in a row. Certain rules of the game are ingrained in my head . Any other ideas?
I'm having to start a whole scene over again for the second time, because of some kind of glitch that sticks my character behind these blank black walls out side the game play map. Then I can only run around in circles and can't get out again. Grrrrrrrrr!
There's no skill for it in BD. Do you have the item equipped? That's a requirement to insert charms.

You don't mix potions. You choose one from the list when you select the appropriate skill. The required plants that make it are automatically subtracted from your inventory. You don't show the potions you can make if you don't have the appropriate plants on you.

I've tryed everything, but no go. Can't get my traps to work either. The secondary skill button (right click) doesn't seem to work unless I make it my primary (left click). It worked before I aquired new non-basic skills. When I try to right click, my character says "I need to take my weapon for that". I wanted to slap her silly!!!!!!!!
I don't know where the problem is, but I think the only thing I can do is play with what I got and see how far I can go with it. One thing I found out last night was that there was a patch for this game, so I downloaded and applied it. Game is different. Act 2 battlefield is twice the size it was when I started it. As for the rest of it I don't know.
I think this is a lost cause for me, but----maybe you can give me some starter tips on two new games I bought. Just got "Diablo 2" with the D2 Expansion, and "Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind Game Of The Year Edition". Are there any problems I should know about? I've always been a die hard point and click (hands are bad) Adventure gamer. Never wandered over to the "Dark Side" before (I'm from GameBoomers).

Just a foot note- I DO activate (choose) the secondary skill I want to use.
