Looking for review/feedback

Post by Xandax »

I'm on the market for buying a new monitor, and I've seen a: Acer AL1715ms TFT 17" at a computershop near me.

Now - I've been wanting to buy a new monitor for quite some time, and now this one appears rather cheap, but I've not been able to find reviews about it (in english or scandinavian) - thus I'm asking if anybody knows of reviews of this product, or possible have tried it themselves.

The screen is listed as 12ms response time on the website/shop - which I find odd because of the makename of 1715ms (seeing as it is 17" - i'd think the 15ms in the name indicated 15ms response time). It also lists as a DVI connection, which I'm also wondering about - because then they are usually rather more expensive :D

Anyways - feedback would be nice :)

I've seen companies put 5ms response time. There are more than one way to judge an LCD's response time and contrast, so don't put too much faith in it.

But I believe that even a 15ms LCD will be quite good for gaming.

Monitor

Remember to match the monitor to your video card. You mention a DVI monitor that is the type of input to the monitor and to use you need a DVI video card.

NEC is best
I have a 19" Viewsonic that has worked fine for over a year and stll working. This large CRT is best for my tired old eyes.

Most graphics cards now have DVI output, and a DVI-VGA adapter isn't expensive.
