spoiler-why am i necked?

Could someone please explain to me what am I suppose to do in the Mimic chamber? And why did the little SOB take my clothes away? I mean I’m running necked looking for clues; I’ve changed to a wolf but what now. This SOB keeps throwing gems am I suppose to pick me' up?

Gidday anat,

This is a really annoying puzzle. Made me dance around the house in a rage, it did. And an angry, dancing Hairy One is a sight let me tell you!

Ok, what you have to do is relatively simple - see the piles of gems all over the place? Grab some. Place a trail of gems to that circle in the centre of the chamber (you are on Lvl 2, right?). Get the mimic to follow the trail of gems. When it is eating the gem pile in the centre of the room, pull the lever. The mimic will die, you will get your stuff back (and some other treasure as well, including the Demonic Grab Hand). The difficult part is getting the little b*st*rd to follow your trail of gems!

Note that you have to solve this puzzle to progress, as you can not cross the various parts of the outside map without the Grab Hand.

Also watch for the rats as they will also eat your gems and your trail.

And in case you're still standing at the very spot where you were robbed and wonder how to get past those glittering barriers... like me back then: you have to use the Seeker's Ring (that toy which turns the world purple once you don it) to shift between dimensions several times - some of the "real" barriers will be gone in the "purple world" and the "purple world" barriers will be gone in the "real" world.

Really, that part is one of the most annyoing segments of HotU... =P
A pointless annoying riddle for getting a pointless annoying item. (the ::: "demonic grappling hand", a device that allows you to get over chasms and other obstacles. Stupid thing always makes me think "Quake" rather than "D&D". ::: )

how do i use the hand of the mimic? i "use" it and then mark my target but nothing happens, why?

Gidday anat,

Using the hand of the mimic can be a little difficult, as you have to click exactly on your target. IIRC, open your inventory and drag the hand into a free inventory slot. Hit the slot key (F1, F2, whichever one you assigned) and the cursor should change to a target. Click the cursor on what you want to grab, and you should "teleport" over next to the object.

There are a couple of poles scattered around the ice level outside the mimic's cave. Use those to practice!

I don't recall you haveing to click the target, but you have to face the target with your character.
If the hand can grap anything - it will and drag you over with it. If not you get a message that it goes out but graps nothing.

At least that is how I did it back then.
