Bethesda has released some info (most of which will be said in the october issue of Game Informer, It can be purchased at any GameStop for $5, or you can subcribe at a GameStop for just $10 for 10 issues by mail... or something like that) The picture below is a actual "in game photo"
I don't think that picture is truly "in game"..I believe it is actually just a cinematic picture..knowing how god awful laggy TES3 was even with a good computer, if "in game" stuff looked like that in TES4, you would have to go into the future a couple years, by a top notch computer, then timewarp back to now to be able to play that game without the same lag we get in TES3, lol
We are pleased to announce that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is currently in development for PC and future generation consoles. In development since 2002, Oblivion is another leap forward in role-playing with its combination of freeform gameplay and cutting-edge graphics. The world-exclusive details on Oblivion are featured in the October issue of Game Informer. Check out their mammoth 12-page cover story to get all the details and screenshots. (And yes, that's in-game art on the cover.)
this is a quote from the bethesda TES site. look at the bold text
hmm if it takes anywhere near as long as morrowind It will prob be looking at release on xbox 2, correct me if i'm wrong buy TES3 was 6/7 years in the making, and a lot of that was done on hardware not commercially available at the time.
Not all matyrs acheive divinity;
But at least you tried.
i've been gettin game informer for like about 3 years now ( a 7 month gap in between though ) n e way, my october issue is my last one for this year, aww man i hav to renew it!
The game will be ported Xbox2, and also planned for PS3.
If you visited official Oblivion forum, some info regarding the game already out. Content in Game Informer can be discussed, or posted in very limited quote but not big part of the article, neither direct scan or screenshot from the article.
- More 1,000 unique NPC’s with better dialogue
- ridable horse
- NPcs can age
- havok physics engine
- facial expressions
- special attacks
- customize spells
- 6 guilds
- over 40 monsters
- dungeons, ancient ruins, town, church, castle
- better construction set
- extremely good graphics quality near or similar to Unreal 3 engine
- NPCs have daily schedule - sleeping, working, stealing, talking
Yes some plug-ins trying to implement those features in MW but mostly unsuccessful: ridable animals but just won't working correctly in game; NPCs with better dialogue but diffcult to make them play out properly; customize spells but limited special affects.
Anyway it's good to actually see those improvements in next TES; they were problems in MW and people keep complaining about them.
xbox was supposed to be my last gaming system according to my mom so xbox 2 is out of the question but maybe about a year or 3 after it comes out, i could kinda bribe her to let me buy it but most likey she'll say no so i guess i'll buy morrowind for pc and start practicing for oblivion
There are mods in TES3 that allow for armor/weapon mannequins. You buy a mannequin (an actual npc that you throw into your inventory) then you stand where you want the mannequin to be and drop it. The mannequin then is a naked man(or woman) in the exact place you were standing. Then you can throw armor and stuff on it.
There was a guy when I used to play TES3 that was dealing with small mannequins that would fit on shelves and stuff, but it didn't happen fast enough for me so I left the game completely since that was the last thing I was waiting on with the game.
The rumor is that Xbox 2 will have hardware specs equivalent to current highest PC specs. Don't know PS3, but it is safe to assume that they all will be powerful consoles, and will last several years just like the original Xbox before become obsolete.
In TES4 it will have mannequin or more accurately training dummy for testing your combat skills.
Most if not all the listed features will be in the final game since the game already in development for 2 years (2002). They waited until they had solid design and everything on TES4 before announcement and show the game to the outside world. Bethesda would probably put in extra features in next 1-2 years if fans want something else and if they doesn't conflict with current engine capability or game design.

WHAT!?!??!?!? what kinda sick twisted wannabe gamers are these people talking about!??!?! drives me crazy.... i mean FOR PETES SAKE! some of the most popular mods are the ones that ADD NEW LAND MASSES! and i was hoping more than anything that we would get to explore all of tamriel.... AH!!!!
