The Ring...
Hey, I know "The Ring" is a pretty old movie now ( it was an old horror movie, you know, that movie where if you watch a tape you die in 7 days) but I'm still FREAKED OUT BY THAT MOVIE!
I can't even go to sleep with out leaving some light on in my room
it was more scarey the first couple of days after I watched it but that movie still scares me
I know there's no creepy little girl watching over me when I sleep but she's still there in my mind! I'm 12 as of 3 days ago so any suggestions on how to keep tat STUPID movie out of my mind?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

Not really, no
I remember having nightmares (a lot) back when I was young ... ehh .. younger - and I still do have nasty dreams occsionally... but luckily I've learned somehow to control my dreams somewhat.
For some reason when I dream, I know on some level I'm dreaming - sounds wierd I know - but this makes me able to wake on command if I'm dreaming something I don't like, and to direct the flow of a dream
My main advice would be to learn to live with it - nightmares are perfectly natural, and a part of keeping us sane, as far as I know (I'm sure CE also knows much more about this topic

I had a lot of nightmare when I was young. The first time when I saw Jurassic Park I was freaked out, and IT (best horror movie imo), scared and scarred me for years.
Like Xandax, I've learned to control my dreams. In the beginning I could wake up on command, but now I've learned to change the "situations" of my dreams. So when I dreams of, let's say IT, I'm not capable of kicking his butt.
Bring on the nightmares!!

Try falling asleep with your discman on or something like that. Music always make me think of something else.

Well then - just lay awake until you are tired enough to fall asleep.
Go to bed a earlier then normal, and then listen to some relaxing music (classical music can do wonders) while you read something you enjoy.
Don't listen to music or read something that gets adrenalin going, though, that will only make you more awake.

Darc, hey, I'm 16 years old and I'm afraid of the dark.
Hehe. I saw The Village weeks ago and that wasn't even that scary, but I am still so freaked out about it. I always picture one of those red beast things standing at the end of my bed. Anyways, what I do when I got to bed is run in my room, flip my lightswitch on and wait for it to come on, (it takes a few seconds,) then I turn on another light that's over my bed, and I turn the first one off. Then I get into bed and wrap my blanket tightly around me so none of it is hanging off the bed, and it's tucked under my body so nothing can reach under my covers and grab my feet or something.
Hehe. And then I usually don't have any problems falling asleep after that, but sometimes if I'm especially scared I listen to music. That seems to help a lot.
Hehe... I have no problem admitting I'm a baby when it comes to scary things.

You know what's the best weapon against fear? Laugther! Really! What scares you the most in that film? The fear that YOU will die, too? Well, how many days have gone since you saw it? More than 7, I guess.
Try to think how the thing that scares you the most could be made ridiculous. E.g. when it's dark and you can't sleep b/c the image of the girl creeping out of the TV comes to your mind, try to imagine her in a funny situation. E.g. the power goes off and she gets stuck halfway out of the TV.
It's not my idea, I have to add. I read it in a book and found it really useful! Believe me, it works
Thanks in advance

Let me cheer you up with my favourite track's lyrics, then
Iron Maiden: Fear of the dark
I am a man who walks alone
And when I'm walking a dark road
At night or strolling through the park
When the light begins to change
I sometimes feel a little strange
A little anxious when it's dark
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there
Have you run your fingers down the wall
And have you felt your neck skin crawl
When you're searching for the light?
Sometimes when you're scared to take a look
At the corner of the room
You've sensed that something's watching you
Have you ever been alone at night
Thought you heard footsteps behind
And turned around and no one's there?
And as you quicken up your pace
You find it hard to look again
Because you're sure there's someone there
Watching horror films the night before
Debating witches and folklores
The unknown troubles on your mind
Maybe your mind is playing tricks
You sense, and suddenly eyes fix
On dancing shadows from behind
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there
When I'm walking a dark road
I am a man who walks alone
Hope you liked it
Btw, Unreg, what about your hair?

@tomtheterrible: To old to watch The Ring? It's not exactly a childeren's movie...
I was very impressed by it. One of the better movies I've seen in a long time.
