max out ability?

So, I've tried creating chars that have 1 or 2 maxed out ability scores(actually, I've done it once now, playing the game thru is hard work) and the rog/ass/shadowdancer had a dexterity of 30+. Due to the ability cap I couldn't have more than like 31 or 32, with respectible bonus of 11/12.

Now is it any use to create a bard or a sor with puffed cha? The bard is cool because use magic device enables him to use the monk outfit with haste and with 30+ cha and 50+ perform it could actually work. But the sor has access to the most powerful spells. I've also thought of making a cleric or paladin with high cha.

I'm really confused what to do now, b/c I've played the game once thru now, and I would really like to start again with a new char. But my rog/ass/shd had AC of like 50, dex 31 (as said, didn't increase anymore) and cool weapons (2w fighting). She was practically UNSTOPPABLE.

Any advice would come in handy now. ty.

The 'true' ability cap is at 255 for all stats but STR which is at 50.
Just go play a Sorc/Pally 1/your choice and go pwn whoever you want.

Just spoked with admin of server ,where i playing. he told me that there is no problem to get 51 STR. (stat + items with bonus) and there is no problem with ELC or something else.

Well it was either fixed in the patch, or the server admins lying because lots of people of the Bioware boards can't get STR over 50.

may be we are talking about different things?
i start with STR 17. +5 from 1-20 levels,+5 from 21-40 levels,+5 with Great STR feat,+8 from 10 levels of RDD,+12 from items. -> 17 +5+5+5+8+12 = 52. that what i am talking about.

Whoops. What it should have been is, STR bugs up after 50 or you can't get a STR mod over 20.

Char's natural STR is 40. +12 from items is maximum permited bonus on any stat. So where is the problem then?

No. Once your STR goes over 50, your modifer will suddenly become negative.

so how do you open the gap? the command line? cause if I have any ability over...well I can't have over 31... it jsut doesn't raise from that point...

What do you mean by "open the gap"?

If you mean how do you get your STR over 50: Make a Half-Orc Bard starting with 20 STR, boost STR when ever you can, take ten levels of RDD, take 7 Great STR (all your epic feats) and then cast an empowered Bull's Strength, and wear equipment with +12 to STR. Now you have a character with the absolute maximum STR in HotU.

If you mean to increase the ability cap: not possible (well it is if you completely rewrite the game).

So what the hell are you talking about STR when I complained about the gap in DEX...?

So they do have gaps.
STR is 50 what-eva
DEX is 30-31 (might increase by 1/level up)
others didnt even bother to check...
