Sorry - but I know next to nothing when it comes to laptop computers. (kinda embarrasing when thinking about it :o :D )

I suggest doing a search for reviews and the make name, and then seeing what pops up. Be sure to take more then one review into account, and try and see if you can get a few user-reviews as well, and not just hardware-site reviews.

Well if you got the more expensive of the two then I say congratulations. If I had that kinda cash I'd certainly replace my 4 year old dell laptop POS for one of those.

Alienware laptops have good reviews, as far as I can remember. However since you're looking for laptops with the whole works, then there isn't much choice in looking for different brands of laptop for you. Hardly any major laptop manufacturers produce the standard of the high-powered Alienware laptops. I can only think of the Sony Vaio, or maybe the iBook. At least, thats from what I've seen so far... if anyone knows of a major laptop manufacturer that makes high powered laptops, then please tell me. I can't get Alienware in my home country.

Then again, my Compaq laptop has been running forever. I turn it off about once or twice every two weeks... and it hasn't burnt out (I've had it for a year). Or maybe that's just a fast route to shortening my laptop life expectancy.
