Cleric problem

Post by Krian »

Hi guys

It was to my knoledge that once a Cleric reaches a certain level and unlocks a spell level, you get ALL the spells in that level and, of course, limited by the number you can memorise like a mage, correct?

But, my cleric has access to level 4 spells and some of level 3 have't appeared, like "call lightning", do I have to memorise the missing spells by finding them like for a mage too?

Thanks

I had a human cleric and a multi-classed cleric/mage in one party, and one had some spells that the other lacked. Perhaps multi-classed clerics have access to fewer spells? Or maybe it was the difference in wisdom levels that were to blame (the cleric/mage had a lower wisdom level).

It is true that once a cleric reaches a certain level, they have access to all the spells they can learn from that level. You cannot write spells to your priestly spell scrolls like a mage can to its spellbook.

The key is that priestly spells are organized into "spheres." Broadly speaking, a sphere is a group of thematically related spells (such as Healing) that your priest's deity has some influence over. No priest in the game has access to ALL spells.

Here's how the spheres and classes break down:

Cleric: Healing, Necromantic, Protection, All, Combat, Charm, Guardian

Druid: Healing, Elemental, Animal, Plant, All, Protection, Weather

Deities also grant other powers to their priests. That's how clerics get turn undead and druids get shapechange.

Much as you might like otherwise, your cleric will never get Call Lightning. I would suggest taking a cleric and a druid at the same time, so that you can cast the widest possible range of spells. If you have Heart of Winter, Call Lightning is one of the more minor weapons in a druid's arsenal.
When your back is against the wall... the other guy is in a whole lotta trouble.

AH, I see, thanks, I suppose it's normal, I mean can't have a Cleric be a fighter, healer AND combat mage, I'll leave that to my mage ;)

Thanks for clearing that up.
