gensen bow(best bow?)
gensen bow(best bow?)
I want to know why people use others bows.........gensen bows does the best dmg and a very good bonus to thac0 +4 I think only another short bow give more(+5 I don't know bows name)with gensen you can hit everything I think and it also distrupts enemy mages.......so why use a long bow that only gives +4to tach0 and +4 dmg?
The arrows of Gesen are slow, but you get the same number of attack/rd you would get with any other bow (that are higher than the number you have with xbows btw), so the only real drawback is that with another bow you can hit a fraction of time earlier than with Gesen (like the difference between using l.swords or 2hswords), but remember that if you equipe arrows with Gesen the speed they travel is set as the other bows plus you keep the elemental dmg (but loose the enchantment of +4).
In the end I think that Gesen is indeed the best weapon between bows/xbows.
Oh yeah I didn't know about this speed thing...........fire tooth is a great weapon indeed
It is indeed a great weapon (one of the best ranged weapon), but Gesen is superior: both have elemental damage but Gesen's is higher (1-8 vs 2) and fire is usually more restisted than elec.; Gesen shoots +4 enchanted arrows while Firetooth +2; Firetooth deliver more damage per single arrow, but bows shoots one more arrow per round, plus if you equip other arrows the count gets more complicated but should be in favour of Gesen dmg.
Apart from that is a waste not to have both equipped by your group in the same time!

One way I've found to get around the gesen bow slow missiles (very similar to what's suggested above) is to equip the quiver of plenty. Make sure it's selected (got the green box around it) and the gesen bow then fires +1 arrows at a much faster rate and it still carries the electricity damage. Very handy indeed because you don't have to worry about ammo then
Same principle as what others have said by putting other arrows there, but I hate having to carry around ammo
I killed a rabid rabbit! I'm experienced now!
