Glaicus

Post by Sellsword »

The first time I played through BG II I (like most people I'm sure) simply killed Glaicus (the charmed guard in the D'Arnise keep). Having read (on this very site) that it is possible to counter-charm him, I have tried to do that, sometimes even getting the blue ring to appear around him briefly. But, when I try to talk to him I get the "Glaicus appears busy" message and then the ring becomes green and conversation is impossible.
Any suggestions (and has this worked for you?).

You are correct, Glacius has been charmed and it can be counteracted. Cast Domination spell and as soon as it is cast talk to him. His saving throws are quite low so you may have to try a few times before you are successful.

I had the same problem as you the first time through the game. He just carved up my party big time! :D So I reloaded and tried Domination (not knowing he was charmed!) before positioning my party to carve HIM up! I got bored trying to talk to him second time so wiped him out with little effort.

You do get a few exp for bringing him to his senses but either way you will get the flail head.

Are you saying that the counter-charming worked for you? When exactly did you talk to him; immediately after the spell had been cast or after it had worn off?

No I did not succeed! :(

But you should talk to him as soon as the spell is cast. I searched loads of boards for this as to why I couldn't do it, I also tried every charm/domination spell in my repertoire.

But then I got bored. Aparently it IS achievable but you have to stick at it. I know what the exp is if you want to weigh up it,s worth... :)

I think there is a bug with his script, I usually talked to him after my charm spell is worn off, but most of the times he just turn hostile again and killed me before I can do anything. I believe Velvetfreak made the fix for that, ask him.

Mmm, never done that before. Ah hell, I'd prefer to kill the bastard. Nobody lives who attacks ME!
