Really bizarre, really annoying...

Post by Amazon Warrior »

Hey all! I'm a newbie to the planes, so be nice to me!

I have what I suspect to be an unusual/unique problem. I went to the weeping catacombs with Morte and Dak'kon, and had completed pretty much everything but the secret tomb. However, Dak'kon kept dying in the catacombs, so I had to keep resurrecting him. Eventually I ran out of charges for this spell, but hadn't renewed it and Dak'kon was still dead. I (accidentally) went into the secret tomb area (alone), and did that part fine. However, upon emerging from the tomb, I've found that Dak'kon's dead body has 'warped' to the entrance to the tomb, and is positioned such that I am completely unable to select/raise it, due to the interference of the door/portal. I can see his body very clearly, but have no access to it! Unfortunately, I've also over-written the previous saves, so I can't re-trace my actions, and raise Dak'kon before I go into the tomb. (D'OH!!)

After an extensive hunt on the internet, I haven't found anything that would seem to solve this problem, not even the lost party members fix, just loads of info about how useful/amazing Dak'kon is... :(

Annoyed? You bet I am. If anyone has any bright ideas about solving this/respawning PCs, I'd probably set up a cult in your honour. If not, I guess I'll just have to start again. It's not that I haven't enjoyed my potterings around Sigil, but to have to do it all again so soon... Grrrrrr! And I have so much of it completed, too.

Cheers anyway, all replies gratefully recieved!

Try this. Pick up Dak'kon's personal effects and have someone else raise him once you're out of the Catacombs. The only person I know for sure that can do this is Lothar and he's in the Lower Ward, but there's gotta be someone else. Maybe the midwife woman in Ragpicker Square. Or for an easier way you can probably just target his icon in the bottom of your screen where the rest of your party's icons are. That should work just fine.

Thanks for replying! I already thought of trying to find his stuff, but I can't seem to find it. I *think* he got killed in the many-as-one main nest, but I'm not sure, and there's nothing there now. I've been checking all the piles of unused stuff lying around, and I haven't discovered anything so far. Also, his icon is no longer in my party, so...

...I think I may have put him permanently out of the picture. :(

I've started a new game, now, anyway. But I'll hang onto the other one in case someone comes up with anything.

Cheers for the advice, I'll have another scout for his kit.

When you enter your Tomb in the Drowned Nations all your party members are removed from the party (since they'd be stuck in there if you let them come with you). You cannot cast Raise Dead on dead party members that have been removed from your party.
