Buying the game and expansions together...

I'm thinking of buying NWN and the two expansions together. My question is, once I have all three installed, will the upgrades that come in the expansions be backward compatible to the original. For instance, will I be able to access my npc players inventory in NWN, or will I be able to access the prestige classes in NWN?

You will not be able to view your henchmens inventory in the OC, but you will be able to access the presitge classes.

There are a few other skills or feats that will not be fully functionally before the modules where they were implemented.
Crafting for one, that seems to only work in HotU.
