newbie without a guide

Hello,
I need a little help. I have been able to figure out pretty much everything.... however I dont know how to identify magical items, needless to say this is quite a set back for me.

SO, if anyone could help me out I would be very appreciative.

I had the same trouble. It's an auspex discipline. Serena can cast it native to her clan and you will also find scrolls to do it as well. Forgive me if the exact name of the discipline escapes me because it's 4:am while I am writing this and I'm pretty tired. I think that the skill is called Spirit touch or something like that. It's either the third or fourth one in the list under Auspex. I will consult the gamebanshee post on disciplines and add to this with the exact name of the skill. It pretty much rocks and is well worth getting. Otherwise you wont know the difference between Diseased Vitae and Antedeluvian Vitae. BTW keep the diseased vitae,... blood is blood and with the Cure Disease potion on you, you can slam a bottle of nastiness and then chase it with the potion. Puts you up +25 on your blood pool.

Yep, it's Spirit's Touch. Early in the game you'll have to do with scrolls, but after gaining some XP, you can master it yourself. Very useful spell.
