Hey there
I have just discovered something
In Baldurs Gate you actully can last without a mage. I have

P.C- Fighter/Cleric (Dwarf)
Kagain
Ajantis
Imoen- Might dual to mage later
Jaheira
Kivan

All my weapons are +1 and my guys are mostly level 4 and i haven't even finished the Nashkal Mines. I find mages are really useless unless dualed.

Mages are pretty good, but only later at higher levels.
I think BG1 is done without a mage without to much problems.

BG2 is another story

In Melee, your party rocks!

I'd swap Kagain for Khalid.

Then you can get your rep high, without him storming off.

I have NEVER used a mage in BG1..(ok in the last battle maybe) but nver before the last battle...

my greatest BG1 team ever consisted of:

Romeo Fighter/Thief Multiclassed..
Imoen
Coran
Kivan
Montaron
and Dynaheir...

nothing survived a encounter with my team.. Coran and Kivan rocked with their longbows..

And mages are worthless in BG1..

But Kivan hes called my "Rapege" guy. Mages are completly useless. Clerics are pretty useful. But when i get 2 Cloakwood im getting Coran

and ill be Unstopable

Ajantis is pretty crap but i keep him 4 his Chrisma. I want 2 replace him but dont know who. Maybe i should get Coran and keep Imoen adn get rid of Ajantis

I might get XAN but he's crap isnt he?
HMMM. Maybe Yeslick would be good??
I killed Xzar and Montaron, Khalid so can't get them. BUT they suck anyway. And Jaheira is very crap. Might replace with Yeslick or Branwen? Yeslick would have better thac0 and strength in battle while branwen has more spells?
SUGGESTIONS???

Tip: In Baldurs Gate 1, Druids level up quicker than Clerics.

Don't take the Fighter/Cleric (Yeslick), have Jah isnstead as she'll get more spells.

Faldorn is probably the best "healer" your party could have. But I never use her because of her HIDIOUS portrait, does that look like 15 Chr to you?

As for mages i'd go for Dyneiher, as her speciallity (Invoc/Evoc) has all the best "damaging" spells. (magic Missile, Fireball, etc, etc)

Yeslick has more spells than Faldorn? Are you sure?? I would have thought Faldorn has more spells than Yeslick, since Yeslick is multiclass.

That isnt the cast the amount of priest spells is calculated by level and by wisdom.

A lvl7 Cleric with 18 wisdom has the same amount of spells as an lvl7/7 fighter/cleric with 18wisdom

I realise that, but a singleclass priest would lvl faster than a multiclass one, and has access to more spells, much sooner.

Hardly ANY good weapons, Can ONLY wear light armour, Useless spells.

True, in BG1 they suck (although shapeshifting is nice, but you get it to late) but in BG2 they rock.

BTW Druids are better in multiclass with fighter

If you have TOSC installed it means druids can use scimitars, just pick pocket/kill Drizzt and you're well armed

it'll hardly make a difference. they SUCK. Jaheira is Good but i killed her off damn! i left her in the mine and picked up yeslick.

Yeslick.. I've really never played with him, I've picked him sometimes just to see his stats and I can say they really suck. I've heard he can cast Dispel but even that wont save him.

Actually Alora isnt that bad NPC.
