Questions about abilities

I just started ToB... and I had to choose some abilities. Now, with Airie i chose "mass resurrection" and the same with Jaheira. But I can't really cast those spells, they are not in the abilities (F12) and not in the spells category. How do I use my abilities? Is this a bug?

Oh and also, if you level up like 10 levels and then choose abilites, you have maybe 10 choices on 5 possible boxes (or something). What happenes to the surplus choices?

Make sure you have the spells memorized, they function the same as all the rest.
"Game Balance" is getting all players to complain equally.
