"on the third level of petrin hill monastery in prague, there are two portcullises up a flight of stairs leading to garinol's lair. i read in a walkthrough there's a hidden switch near the stairs that opens one.

help would be greatly appreciated"

Yeah, he sent me a PM about it, and I answered him as best I could... Maybe I should pick the game back up, and do another run through to re-assert my knowledge of it.

the only secret place i can find in the petrin hill monastery is
Right before the exit to level three, you will find a hidden panel in an altar that will open up to reveal some gold coins. After you have opened it and collected the prize, return to the main room of the level to find that another panel has been opened. Inside you will find a special Femur that can be used as a weapon.

Not sure if it's in the third or the second level, but if you go all the way upstairs, you will also find a switch in a bookcase.
