The Problems With Moderation...

Post by Nippy »

I'd just like to say a little word for the moderators, given the current situation and point we are at in the world stage.

When we're a discussion thread, and (more often) Fable makes a post, that may in some way be read wrongly, or vice versa (everyone is fallible), reprecussions arise. I'll point out here that just because a moderator may post in a thread does not make that moderator likely to use his mod powers wrong - our guys are much too smart for that.

Thanks for the work you guys are doing. You're making it just that little bit nicer to post here. :)

So remember all, lets keep civil, this is on-line. No one has a racist or negative opinion of each other - we are all on the same world, posting in the same cyber-space. Don't get banned for silliness, please. :)

Ive been thinking about posting a thread just about this...and how much racism sickens me, how stupid racism is, and how it seems it will never go away...

I understand your intent, Nippy :)

I would suggest to all that, irregardless of who contributes to the said threads, the responsibility should start with the individual poster. We are all aware of the forum rules (or should be before we post). After the rules we have a responsibility to each other to keep things civil. The last port of call are the moderators and Buck himself. It is a shame if the tone of a discussion continues beyond a moderator's request, and as a result forces Buck to increase his spam rate ;)

btw, racism is not often the issue, thankfully :)

Yes. I agree. I dont think Ive ever seen it here. I was referring to the entire world in general. ;)

LMAO! Well played, RandomThug

In all seriousness, though, I say: hooray for the mods! :)

Though, my personal opinion is: if people are getting too darn abusive about a subject, maybe we shouldn't be discussing it here in SYM. Sit in a cafe and debate the world's problems (and solutions)! SYM is for gamers!! SYM is for fun!

SYM is the rightful domain of Weasel and Gruntboy! And don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. ;)

Great job mods, this is one of the few forums I've seen that are so full of funny people and are not full of stupid trolly threads (even the ones that are funny but get stupid after the fifth one).

I couldn't agree more Nippy :) Our Mods know the difference between posting as active members, or posting as Mods using their Mod powers.

This is a great board, and thanks to Buck and the Mods (still sounds like a pop band) for keeping it this way :)

You're forgetting something there...

...Lord Marshall of COMM... ;)

... I would like to think that all the mods agree (past and present) that a huge chunk of the credit goes to the members.

Members would click on the "report this post" icon/link to get our attention and at times they themselves would do some warnings on their own fellow posters...

...you don't know how much you guys make our jobs a whole lot easier. ;) :)

Buck will do the vocals, Mah can play sax, I'll play harpsichord, and T'lainya will no doubt play accordion.

You'll have to become a mod to join the band, I'm afraid--them's CE's rules. And as our manager, she decides who's in and who's out.

I hear our first engagement is for somewhere in Antartica. We're promised a fish buffet. It all seems a bit suspicious to me.

I'm a bit late to express my opinion here, sorry about that :) '

I just want to say that, I think you're doing a great job. I've seen a couple of boards wrecked by moderators and admins, who were way more concerned wether their members opinions complied with their own, than moderating. Keep up the good work! ;)
