How to be declared as insane!

Post by dios »

Ok, i've just entered Brynnlaw..well actually i've already done most of the quests (e.g save Claire, help the children)

and how will Desharik take you as insane so he sends you to spellhold?

and i've already killed the Cowled Wizard but didn't find the stone (key or whatever...)

How to be declared as insane! =)

Or have enough Charisma

You do realize that you can enter without being declared insane, first? There are alternatives.

Choose the dialogue options that make you sound insane.

You can also attack somebody for the means of entry.

Or you can acquire the wardstone and walk through the front gates.

Yes, there really are several methods. Though personally, the dialog with Minsc is the funniest, here.

@Dios: you say you killed "the Cowled Wizard", do you mean Perth tha Adept? And you didn't find any wardstone?
That would be very odd and bug-looking.
Try to search his house carefully! (If you have ToB, the tab key can help to see items on the floors).

Are you sure you can't enter Spellhold? What happens if you just try?

I think Anomen's charisma won't help, is the main char that needs high charisma. Do you have the Ring of Human Influence from the circus? It should work fine.

You have to choose the dialogue options that say that you "feel your mind slipping away" or something along those lines iirc... references to the fact you fear you're going to turn into the Slayer. (Good luck... let us know if more help is needed... one can always clua the wardstone in, if you are victim of a bug indeed...)
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Hmmm...if he has the wardstone, maybe he simply hasn't realized its implications. That's the problem with getting walkthroughs and hints: it's too easy to fall into the trap of believing there's only a single, best way to do everything. I'm not saying that's what has happened here, but still...

You get a lot more experience if you can fool Desharik. I usually use the wardstone to go in and kill everything in front of spellhold then go back and get D to lock me up.

Since Anomen only has a natural 13 CHA, I'm guessing he has the Ring of Human Influence. Give that to the PC and you should be okay.

You get 20,000 for killing Perth and grabbing the wardstone, and 38.500 for convincing the Pirate King you're insane. I have to ask myself: is it really that important to follow the single outlined path through the game that gains me the most experience, as opposed to just letting things land the way they do, and enjoying the experience? And also, exactly how much good is that additional experience going to make in a party whose every member has more than 1,000,000 experience points?

I always kill Perth first and then go insane. It gives a satisfaction you don't get when doing just one of them.

Same here, I always kill Perth the Adept for 20,000 exp and then talk to Desharik for 38,500.

Interesting thing is, the Lots of Experience exploit by Crovax doesn't work for me as my Auto Save doesn't include the conversation with Desharik.

Ideas, anyone?

i cheated the wardstone inside the game...yes...but i couldn't enter asylum otherwise...=(

Desharik just thought that i was faking it all, (which i was anyway) and left me in his house =(

but i'm finished with asylum and are just killing the improved mindflayers...yummy...

but thanks anyway...(i did get declared as insane the earlier times i tried...but than i had minsc and yoshimo in my party though)

I play for the fun of it....in fact, I always miss out on a big bunch of experience just because I refuse to do any good deed for one who has so viley treated me. Besides, I don't like to visit temples anyway. ;) :D

I bought the game to have fun, and that is what I do. I almost always have Minsc in my party, and often take Jan. Their are both decent NPC's, but totally awesome to listen too. The first time I let Minsc speak to the Pirate Lord had me in stitches.

I have power-gamed a couple of times, but don't end up getting very far. Spell, spell, hit, hit gets pretty boring after a while. I then start over to see how different characters interact.

Speaking of NPC interactions, I had a laugh AT the game last night. Anomen & I just rescued Haer'Dailis and I was standing there for a bit while my ring of regeneration did its work, and Haer'Daelis commented to Anomen that he "noticed in the last battle..." We only just met the guy and haven't been in a fight yet! I hope others find this funny as well.

Whether it is laughing at the game's quirks, or at the dialogue, the game is a lot more fun to play then to power-game. And if you want to have a little mayhem while playing with a non-power party, go find some goblins!
