Hacked ?

Post by KidD01 »

This will take a real long writings than I rarely do :o

I was trying to open my Yahoo email account today and could not open it. Before that I read my ISP email via webmail provided by the ISP. There's a message from ol highschool friend of mine contains a html link which when I clicked only shows nothing :(

After that my browser can't open http://www.yahoo.com or mail.yahoo.com. Eventually Tybaltus manage to link via Pm to me and I finally got thru. yet when I try to change my account pref The browser got stuck again.

After a painfully effort I finally manage to access my Yahoo account - the solution : I blocked the IP address which shows on status (left bottom side of IE) using my Zone Alarm software. Eventually ZA give an alert saying IE trying to access the IP address and blocked it. The result of my actions : my IE can surf faster on Yahoo than before.

My questions :
1. Is it a known virus ? or just a hacker attempt ?
2. is it only happen to my browser when I try to browse Yahoo, it connect first to : 66.218.71.83 ? I don't think this is a normal thing (I rarely notice this, yet with current prob I have to anyway :o )
3. If it's not normal how can I restore my IE ?

PS :
I know this will be silly yet the NAV 2002 happen to offline when I surf last time
Also NAV 2002 with current virus def does not detect any virus on my PC
I'm using IE 5
I'm not dead yet :D :p

I've just tried a tracert command to http://www.yahoo.com and it's getting stuck at 66.218.71.83. That IP is for the server name http://www.yahoo.akadns.net, so it may be that Yahoo are having some problems at the moment.

ZA may have detected that as unusual traffic due to the repeated attempts to get to that server and not getting a proper response.

All I can suggest right now is leave it for a bit and try again later.

I think I think, therefore I might be.
