And it’s not that cleansing, fresh spring-like rain that one greets with happiness, but instead the type of rain that hangs there, dripping every so often so that nothing dries off and the air is perfumed with the smell of earthworms…the squished kind.
And, yes I still am parking on the street, blocks away from my front door. Because my SO (‘I’ve go the most expensive car, and I’m a man, therefore I get the garage stall’) and my sister (‘I feel kind of bad that I’ve had the spot right in front of the townhouse for a year and your car just got broken into. We can ‘switch months’). Unfortunately my month isn’t until next month, and I think my yellow rain slicker has a leak.
Have I mentioned that we still haven’t replaced the car stereo since it’s been stolen? There is a stereo for it in the house, but asking me to do it is asking a fisherman how to milk a cow, just isn’t going to happen the right way. Sure, I may hook up the right wire thingiestm, but it’ll probably hang there suspended only by said wires flapping about in tune to the road bumps. My SO could replace it, but he’s not here (this is not in my list of complaints).
Now, the problem with not having a radio is that one can then actually HEAR ones car engine. This may be a good thing if your car does not belong to Viv, but for me, it’s pretty bad. It’s making a high pitched thrumming sound, and I’m hoping not to find a small furry animal that may have crawled in one night to die. Also, the back left tire is beginning to make this ‘thump’ sound on the pavement, with is a bit scary. I was going to check when I got to work if it was flat, but I forgot and went on my ‘must run getting rained on again’ way.
Have we discussed safety? It’s raining, sticky and cold outside. In my car, it’s warm and cozy. Apparently the windows, specifically the one I see through, don’t like this. I know this because it starts fogging up in little ‘window wiper patterns’. Why not turn on the blowing air on the window thing? Good question! Unfortunately that involves finding the faceplate that once held in my stereo that tells me what the dials mean. (I’ve tried randomly twisting the dials, but usually I get random results)
With all of these car problems, I’m sure you can imagine driving to work was very stressful three minutes. I’m hoping the drive home will be better.
Has this cheered anyone up? Anyone who has a radio and a car that’s not scary sounding?
