3rd Edition Rules Question

What does the Armour Penalty Check on shields do? I looked through the manual and can't find anything about it. Also, does a shield affect the number of attacks a monk gets?

The armour check penalty reduces your skill total in skills that require movement. Things like hide, move silently and parry. After all it's harder to be silent in a hefty suit of armour!!
Don't think you know all the answers.

Monk/shield bug

Also, unless it's been patched, with the exception of the skill/spell penalties a monk can use a shield and still retain his attacks and abilities normally. So, NO, a shield does not affect the number of attacks a monk gets in NWN...it's a bug.

@ Sirius_Sam

Actually, I read the following on a site recently

"I originally assumed monks being able to use a shield was a bug, but one reader mentioned that Monte Cook, the dude who provides to D&D rule questions mentioned shields as an option for monks, thus don't expect them to be 'fixing' this any time soon."
